Online Squeak VM

Does anyone know of an online squeak VM? It could make Scratch be online instead of Flash. I would at least be able to test it out. Does one exist?

There is a Squeak plugin, but it's very hard to find.
I tried to install it, but it didn't work.
I guess that we're out of luck  sad

Re: Online Squeak VM

That would be best.  It's really kind of dumb how the Scratch team chose to use a Java player and a code translator.  it would work much better and make more sense if they could make or find something that reads Smalltalk-80 directly.

I have before and that's not what I am talking about. I mean that they are actually making Scratch in flash, with the color sceme and all.

No, it's a very good decision to use Java.

In case you didn't know, nobody has this squeak plugin.

Re: Online Squeak VM

The Squeak plugin is extremely cool and it is being used by thousands of people worldwide, who are using Alan Kay's Etoys. I think it's a wonderful suggestion to just use the Squeak plugin with a Scratch image that runs online, because that way not only will you have a player for Scratch that runs in any browser, but also an online editor.

Does it use an online VM, and if so, where can I download it from?

Re: Online Squeak VM

You can get the Squeak browser plugin it by downloading and installing Etoys, or by scavenging the Squeak site.

I installed Etoys. How would I embed the VM on my website, and how would other people be able to view it?

I still don't get it. How can I use it to add Slash to a website?

What I need is to use that thing to put Slash online on a webpage, like the Scratch team is planning to do with Scratch on Flash, except on Squeak.

Update: My friend and I got it to work on Macs, but it won't identify the plugin on Windows. Does anyone know how windows identifies plugins?
