Scratch

Today I went boating in our 26 year old boat which usually doesn't break down, but this time it did. This is what happened:

We left the boat launch after the boat started successfully. We easily got up to speed once the water was deep enough, but when we slowed down again, the engine flooded (for those who don't know what that means, it means too much gas got into the cylinders) and we stalled. Of course the wind was pushing us toward the shore, so we had to frantically paddle to avoid the moored sailboats. It took about an hour for the fuel to evaporate out of the engine before we could go again. Then, after driving for about five more minutes, we stalled again, this time about three hundred feet from the beach, which was nice. This time we had overheated. Again, it took about an hour before we left, but this time in a completely different way. We had to call the Coast Guard and get them to tow us to the nearest boat launch. Of course, that wasn't the one we started out at so we had to wait another hour before my dad could get the trailer there. So, it turned out that it wasn't exactly the best day for boating.
