New Scratchers?

Does anyone know anything about the "New Scratchers" title?  smile

I'm updating my guide *Pokes signature* , but I don't know..

1) All of the restrictions placed on New Scratchers.
2) How a New Scratcher becomes a Member.

hmm

Re: New Scratchers?

1) New Scratchers have to wait 17 minutes instead of 1 minute between posts.
2) They are upgraded manually if they are nice and cute and don't flame too much. :3

Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

Thanks, but you haven't seen me  tongue

I like the tiger very much too, it is from a Swedish propaganda poster from World War Two.
On the poster, under the tiger it says "En svensk tiger", which means both "A swedish tiger" and "A swede keeps his mouth shut".

Sorry for off-topicness

Interesting... How long will it take them to prove their niceness and cuteness?

I saw someone that had first visited the forums on the 6th... the user's marked as a member.

Probably until it's completely obvious.  smile

I thought it was after a set number of days... or was it something about a certain amount of posts..? I fail at remembering numbers... except 3756547, although it would be more than a little mean to make New Scratcher wait until their 3756547th post before they became a Member  tongue

That last part was a little random... sorry  big_smile

Re: New Scratchers?

Interesting thought on the rule. It's just I feel as if the 1000 second rule should be made into 180 seconds. I feel that 17 minutes is a little to much too wait and that it is harder to recognize whether someone deserves to be a member or not.

I think he means "We (mods 'n' admins) will discuss what changes can be made to the system"  smile

Re: New Scratchers?

Apparently I'm considered a member, and I only have 5 posts right now, so the requirements can't be very strict.

Then again, some of the people above me (like ScratchCoder) are considered New Scratchers still, even though they have more posts. Maybe it's based on projects?

Then again, maybe I'm just being stupid, because a community mod already answered the question...

The 'New Scratcher' thing is quite new, when you joined you became a Member directly.
I don't know exactly when this new feature was implemented though.

Oh. Why was that feature implemented? Was it to reduce spam from throwaway accounts, or something else?

Spam, and people coming here just to be mean...  sad  But the New Scratcher system seems to have stopped people from coming just to spam or be mean  smile

Yep, Wolfie pretty much hit the nail on the head there. A few people came in just to be mean, posting links to some particularly inappropriate websites or spamming. The limits placed on new Scratch members slows them down so that they do less damage before we get to the scene of the crime and deal with it. And it seems to have worked, for the most part.

Well, I'm glad it's working! From what I've seen, Scratch has a really great community, and it's great that it's getting even better. I can't believe the level of trolling/spamming on other forums. *cough* YouTube *cough*

Already did, but I ended up spamming without meaning to myself x)

Anyway, I found out what I needed  smile  So I'll let the next moderator that lurks here decide whether this topic should stay open or not.
