I reccomend that we have a general programming forum. it could be a place for any languages other than scratch. scratch mods could go there, c++, flash, java, javascript, etc. this could clean up the advanced topics section a bit, and knowing others who can help you can make it easier to learn another programming language.

Yeah, currently the Misc. forum is a very broad topic, and this is where some people post programming language discussion topics. In a different post I recommended splitting up the Misc. forum even more, allowing for talk about other programing languages, or complex programs. Advanced topics is filling up with scratch mods, so if you post something about programming languages there, it usually won't get touched. I hope we can figure out something. The forums seem so scattered!

sounds like you agree... added lists of supporters.

I support for the above reason.

I'm not so sure I support... These forums are for Scratch, not other programming languages.
(Squeak, when used to modify Scratch, however, should have it's own forum: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=34720)

I just browsed the Miscellaneous forum and didn't find much... the forum might be rather empty, unless it gained posts simply because it was new and gained attention.

here's something to think about.
eight of these topics are clearly about scratch nods/BYOB. after clicking Adv. Costume Help I discovered that it was about a mod of panther.

If you're looking for a forum about Scratch modifications or BYOB, a suggestion like this might work.

A forum for just Scratch modifications would be better (why have things about C++ on the Scratch website?) - but a whole forum for those modifications is a bit odd.

because scratch is supposed to be an introduction to programming, and I'd rather have people that can help me here than try to learn all by myself.

Scratch=Introduction
C++!= Scratch
C++ is not Scratch! Scratch is it's own language, I have no support for the idea.
Why not Google "C++ Learning"? Are you too lazy? (No offense intended)

Who said it was C++?
C# != scratch
But, the two are very a like, and are fun to use, so would you rather have your scratchers firends help you learn a programming language or learn it on your own?

I don't understand why people would be against this. Scratch is an intro to programming, so if people wanted to get into other languages they could head over to the programming forum. I don't get how a Text Based Games forum (which doesn't really contribute to the purpose of scratch) would be justified and a programming forum would not be.
