Umm... this is going to look a bit strange.

Ok. I'm probably going to make a complete and utter fool of myself here. If you think I am please say so, I'm new so I don't really know whats normal and whats not.

The basic thing is; I'm no good at scratch. I joined about a week ago, but I still have no idea how to make anything decent other than copying other peoples scripts.

If anybody has any good advice it would be aprishiated (spelling?).

Thanks.

Copying people's scripts is OK - we support remixing here!  smile  Take a look at the script when you're using it - try going to the "Edit" menu, then "Set Single Stepping", and choose "Flash blocks (slow)". This makes each block change colour when that part of the script is happening, and allows you to see what effect different combos of blocks make.

In some of the Sample projects, people have left comments on scripts - these usually help to show what each one does.  big_smile

Of course, asking "How do I do X?" helps too - we're happy to help!  smile

First of all, using other peoples scripts is a great way to learn.

Might I suggest starting with a simple animation of the Scratch cat just to get used to the style of programming in Scratch?

Cool, thanks for the good advice. I wasn't sure if it was allright to do something similar to someone elses work. I'll definatly try the flashing blocks thing.

I couldn't do anything in scratch for almost a month. Then, one day, I just got it.

Sounds good. How did you just get it?

(happened to me in steel sentinels)

Sometimes, when you have a break and come back, you get so much better at something that it's weird.

I might try that. I've been looking at a lot of other people's projects to see what things I like or could do.  smile
