at the movie theater?
I need to know what one of them looks like for a special project, and I can't seem to find anything.

The word would be "usher" - although Google Images doesn't seem very helpful with just that criteria - try "cinema usher" or something like that

What people guide others to their seat at churches and movie theaters? That sounds stupid - you can just find your own seat, can't you? Nobody does that where I'm from..

They're actually quite helpful when the place is nearly jam-packed... have you ever tried to find an empty seat in a packed movie theatre in near-complete darkness?

And in other theaters for live stage shows, there's sometimes assigned seating. When somebody learns they're in seat A4 99, they have no idea where that is, right? The usher tells them.

In plays it's usually that way, but a lot of movie theaters you can pick whatever seat you want.

Yeah maybe in a play or a concert. Never for a movie.
