Popular Scratcher

with the trend of scratch "magazines" I thought I'd make my own. I was planning to for a while, but never got to it.
This would be a mix, mostly scratch-related stuff, part general programming, and part real-world stuff.
so, here's what I want.

Ads. banner ads (mostly) and some full-page ads.
Articles.
Ideas:
-Gulf oil spill?
--If the scratch team and community mods don't want this in there, that's fine
-scratch mods
-scratch day
-scratch project of the month
--Nominate a scratch project with 1-2 paragraphs about it.
-flash game of the month
--Nominate a flash game with 1-2 paragraphs about it.
-scripts of the month.
--Javascript, Scratch, CSS, Visual Basic, C++, etc.
Someone with the "sketch rockwell" font for the title.
that's about it. We don't need all of it, but we want as much as possible.
It's my 500th post!

Flash game nomination: http://www.kongregate.com/games/katana099/demo-ignium-war-demo
Ignium war (demo) is a bird's eye view shooter, with a story mode and survival. So far, it seems pretty well-made with nice graphics and challenging gameplay. It's not very well known, and there are a few small glitches. There are many steel sentinels references throughout the game. The weapons are a bit unbalanced, but it remains a fun game. The story is slightly random along with what apparently is planned. Apparently there is a chicktopus in the game. please :3

Scratch game nomination: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Fourex/590191
Planet defence (not my one, the other non-3D first person shooter) is a very addicting yet simple game.

thanks!  I haven't seen the scratch one yet, I'm on a slow, old laptop, and I don't want FireFox to crash.
@Icode747: Yup! I don't like to write things like reports for school, or fiction, but I do like writing my opinions about current events.

All scripts of the month will be hello, world scripts. I know Javascript enough, but I need it in other languages too.

Re: Popular Scratcher

Bumping and updates too.
1.) Changing flash games to just games, so I can add on the run to the ballot. This will be decided by voters! anyone on scratch can vote.
2.) Still need the title graphics done. Anything would be good.
3.) I'll use my Artists vs. Programmers article from Scratchable.
4.) Still need some articles. How about A scratch help section?
5.) Maximum size for banner ads is 400*75.

Re: Popular Scratcher

For Scratch project I nominate ReDeath YelloWin.

Paragraph: ReDeath YelloWin is an addictive, simple project made by the Scratch user Aidan. The object of the game is to get to the yellow, while avoiding as many as five flying red dots. You're thinking "that's easy", right? Well, it's not. The yellow goal doesn't appear for 60 seconds, so you have to survive until then. When it comes up, it moves every second, so you have to be FAST! Control your character, a multicolored ball, entirely with the mouse. The character will always fall at a constant speed, and clicking the mouse makes it rise, while moving the mouse affects the horizontal position of it. The high score is 5 by knight5656. Think you can beat it? Click the link!

Can I nominate 2?

1.) What's your favorite thing about scratch?

The community. It's so great how so many people from all over the world can share a great passion for programming.

2.) How did you discover scratch?

My grandfather read about it. He and my grandmother teach computer science at a University.

3.) How long have you been on scratch?

About 7 months.

4.) What's your favorite project in scratch?

Hard to say... All of the projects in my favorites are my picks. Maybe I'll make a Gallery with my very best picks...

5.) Do you know any other programming language besides scratch? If so, which ones?

Mindstorms, if it counts... Objective-C.

6.) What do you do when you're not on scratch?

Think about Scratch.  tongue

7.) What do you think is most important in 2.0, mesh, an online version of scratch, or other new blocks?

Online version. I could work from anywhere!  smile

8.) Do you think the switch to flash is good for scratch?

Yes. Flash is so much better than Squeak.  smile

9.) If you were on the scratch team, are there any changes you would make to the website?

Yes. I would add better collab tools, for one thing. I can't name anything else off the top of my head.

There you are!  smile
