Re: Question for Common_Sense

This playing games with identity stuff can get rather ugly, rather fast. While it's tempting to pretend to be or not to be (that is the question) someone else, in the end it leads to drama. And drama is good for movies, not so great for communities.

That's one reason we added a section to the TOU about it:

http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Terms_of_use
See especially, this part:
"Be honest. Don't pretend to be someone other than who you are or try to game the community."

WAIT A SECOND
Don't pretend to be someone other then you are to 'game' the community.
Role playing games are all about that. Ban hammer time. Just kidding

I'm not pretending to be someone. I never said I was Common_Sense. And you can say that as well, because you know IP addresses, so I do not see how you are objecting.

I'm not doing a drama either.

Gaming the community? Fine. I'll tell tomorrow, two days, like I planned.

I just thought it was fun to make a secret.

And Adriangl just jumped into the pool.

I guess you are right about ugliness.

How do you know that I am pretending to be Common_Sense?

I know what the terms of use are. Don't worry.

I am honest, I never said I was or was not Common_Sense.

----------------

How would I "game" the "community"? This is only 5 people's problem as of today. I don't see it as much of a problem.

Lightnin, if you think I am doing something majorly wrong, or doing 'loopholes' as I call them wrong against the Terms of Use, then ban me.

Actually, I'd say this thread is rather clean! No flame wars or arguments. I'ts even fun for me, Common_Sense, and everyone else.

Well, that proves you are not Common_Sense, since you did not demonstrate any while replying.
My post was simply a joke.
In the Terms of use it states that you can't pretend to be someone else and "game" the community. Of course by game, they mean trick, but I was using it in the literal term as an actual game. Role-playing games, to be specific. And since the majority of those are made of people pretending to be someone they aren't, I said they should be banned, jokingly.

And even more rarely does Common_Sense show common sense in my experiences.

Well, I have seen in other threads, people saying you weren't using common sense, and I would have to agree.

Plus I quote from RHY3756547: "I like the last line, it's like saying get 'get outta my website foo' but in a nicer way."

Alright Common_Sense, you've had my sig for a week, now switch it back.

They just said my sig is cool and switched for a week. They just wanted to.

Deal?

Now close the thread.

Hmm.... this is not to this topic, but... On my test account I saw someone who copied the usericons from archmage, RHY3756547, AddZero, 08jackt and Tanner-FBI.

A stalker!
It's probably just a fan who's making a statement by putting four great programmers in his avatar to symbolize that he'll be making good projects like them.
And yes I said four

Indeed - as several flaming posts illustrated before we removed them from the thread.

If I felt that were necessary, I would have done so already. But in this as in most cases, we take a gentler approach whenever possible. And you've been a respected community member for a while now. That counts.

But we often see threads like this one burst into flames. You should know it's sketchy territory.

And, by the way: don't disrespect the mods - any mods.
