I have no idea why, but when I try and save my scratch project it comes up saying
"Save Failed: Unknown Class ScratchToolTipMorph"
Please can someone help me fix this. I have been working on this project for ages and if I cant get it to save then I will have lost loads of work!

PLEASE HELP!!

Re: Save Failed!

That's a real headscratcher, especially considering you have to keep Scratch open!

It seems to me that something may be wrong with your copy of Scratch - have you made any changes to it, or are you maybe running a modified version? That's the only explanation I can think of.

Re: Save Failed!

No, there's nothing different. I'm using the latest version scratch with no modifications.

Have you tried shift-clicking the "R" on the Scratch logo and then selecting "Save Image for End-User?" That seems to help a number of people with their Scratch-related bugs, and it's the only thing I can think of  hmm . Otherwise, you'll just have to reinstall, I'm afraid.

Re: Save Failed!

I did what you said and it closed scratch... where did it save the file?

Oh and I tried opening another project and then saving it. It was all fine. So the problem isn't with scratch, its with the first project.

Re: Save Failed!

Hmmm - it's possible your scratch project file got corrupted. If you still have it open,
try exporting a sprite and then importing it into a new project. Save to make sure the problem doesn't show up. Repeat with the rest of the sprites from the project.

If the error does show up after importing a sprite, then you know that sprite is the culprit... You can try to redo it from scratch in your new project to see if you can get by the problem that way. We'd love to see that sprite though, by the way, so we can try to recreate the problem here and add it to our list of stuff to fix.

*facepalm* Saving the image only saves the image, not the project. It will not save the project, only the source edits.

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

I'm well aware of that, thank you. The error message, however, seems to suggest a problem with the code itself, which is why saving the image could fix the problem.

Upload the project, then re-download.
