Let's make the BBCode help page a little more accurate...

OK - I was looking through the BBCode help page... and I found a few things that bothered me slightly...  yikes  Here are the things I noticed:

#1: In the top box, (simply titled "BBCode") the second "paragraph" says:

You can tell if BBCode is enabled or disabled out in the left margin whenever you post a message or edit your signature.

Surely, it should say "beneath the text box", not "out in the left margin"... That's where I'm seeing it as...  hmm

#2: In the third box down, titled "Links and Images", it has a section on email addresses. I was under the impression that sharing email addresses on Scratch is prohibited - I for one have seen many a post edited due to sharing emails... However, the BBCode help page seems to contradict this - very confusing!  hmm  Perhaps the bit about email should be removed...

#3: This one is kind of "nit-picking", but I think it deserves a mention. In the "Smilies" box, it says this (I know that that the code will show up as smilies, but my point is in something else):

smile  and  smile  produces  smile
neutral  and  neutral  produces  neutral
sad  and  sad  produces   sad
big_smile  and  big_smile  produces   big_smile
yikes  and  yikes  produces   yikes

Surely, the code is plural - so therefore, "produces" should be "produce", in these five lines...

Thanks for reading  smile

I agree! Also,  tongue  is not included on the page.

Oops! It is there for me too... I really thought it wasn't.  tongue  Oh well. But anyway, all that stuff should be fixed. Also, I think it would nice if there were a few more examples to help out new BBCode users. For example, it would be nice if it showed how to make a picture-link. That is a very common question.

Agreed with the examples that you mentioned. I think they should make the link to the BBCode guide a bit more obvious - I've seen several new (and some older) Scratch'ers asking how people make smilies, coloured text, italics, et cetera... It would be nice  smile

Yeah, I agree whole-heartedly - I've always thought that page seemed a little contrived.

Great!  smile

But I think the forum threads on BBCode have a lot more information...  tongue

You can use this for right now.  smile

The real one doesn't cover everything...  hmm

Yeah, I mean, DUH. Everybody knows no emails!  tongue

Yawn, another boring text signature. I should really make something better.

I've seen some new users sharing emails - I think that they might be confused by the BBCode help page  smile

Yes, editing it would be nice  smile  Given the complexity of the PunBB system, I'm not surprised you don't know how to edit that page  wink

Goodness, Thursday can't come soon enough.

Thanks, Lightnin!  big_smile  And I'll try to be available then (my timezone might make it a little tricky, but I'll try  smile  )
