Of course that's not to say you shouldn't try it. In fact, I have more issues with the Ubuntu binary for Scratch on 9.04 because of a glitch that causes Compiz to wipe the Scratch window blank after I exit from presentation mode.

I'll try Scratch with WINE after I get home after school.
Hopefully it works...

What processor are you using - AMD? Sorry, it will work only on a X86: Pentium / Intel chip.
I have AMD, Ubuntu Linux 10.04 dual boot w/ windows, and Scratch works fine! If you have 64 bit, Open up the terminal and type: "sudo dpkg --force-architecture -i ./scratch_1.4.0.1-0ubuntuX_i386.deb". It should work after you type in your password.

Try Ubuntu forums - we're kinda low on Linux experience. Believe me, a real wizard's probably got the answer.
