Community Moderator Campaigns

Here's a thread where all of the eight potential candidates can posts speeches about their potential moderator-ship. I'll link to all speeches made so you can see what each candidate has to offer.

Dazachi's Speech - http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=36103
Wolfie1996's Speech - Campaign
coolstuff's Speech - http://voteforcoolstuff.t35.com/
TheSaint's Speech - http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=36137
illusionist's Speech - http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=36117
fullmoon's Speech - http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=36123
juststickman's Speech -
demosthenes' Speech -

Here's the re-write of my old speech:

I've spent approximately 2 years on Scratch and all most that much time on the forums as well. Ever since I've first started I've been thoroughly impressed by the program and by the friendly atmosphere of the forums. I'd love my own chance to keep up the friendly environment the forums present.

I wish to keep the mood of the forums light and relaxed, but all the same I will remain vigilant and try to
-Deal with "grave-digging"
-Sort misplaced topics
-Filter inappropriate content
-Prevent topics from becoming flame wars

I pride myself on a keen eye for derogatory remarks and flame-bait and have felt helpless when I've seen things I could have prevented if I were a moderator. If I were to become a moderator I'd use my almost constant activity as a time to watch out for hurtful things and clean them up as well as working to keep the forums an organized place and prevent them from overwhelming new users.

I've seen Joren, Paddle2See, MyRedNeptune, kevin_karplus, Jens, and cheddagirl (hope I didn't miss anyone >.>) do admirable jobs of moderating the forums and keeping them clean. My wish is to help them (although some may have "retired") keep the forums as welcoming and helpful as they were to me when I first joined.

Although I doubt I could surpass, or even equal, any of the moderators, and previous moderators, in judgement and dedication, I would try!
Although I may make mistakes, I will persevere (a little cheesy maybe . . .) and attempt to improve the forums.

I'm sure whoever is elected will do a wonderful job and I appreciate any support I get, but I'm more concerned with the well-being of Scratch than my own position here.

Whew . . . that was long-winded  tongue  I tried (and failed) to keep it concise, I may revise it later.

Re: Community Moderator Campaigns

Your speech is all wrong. It should be "Vote for me, and I will keep the forums clean with an Iron FIST"

Here's my "revised" speech-

I will rule the Forums like a dictator and all those who oppose will be crushed by my superior might. So you should probably vote for me!

Is that better?

And the voting has begun!

Re: Community Moderator Campaigns

I posted mine here! Funny story, I was almost done with it when there was a one-second power outage. I went to go cry into a big bowl of ice cream when I realized that Firefox saves the contents of your tabs! Even though I'm a Chrome guy, FF is definitely worth using when writing something important.

Interesting. We can (sorta) see how many people have voted based on the view count of the topic in Announcements.
