I really want one, and I'm in 4th grade. I want the LG Lotus. Its so cute! Do you think I would be too young for a phone or not?
I only want the answer to my question in comments. I really need to know. thanks everyone.
BTW, half of the kids in my class have phones. I need to call my mom a lot because I walk to the library from school every day. And its not like I'm unreliable or anything, I'm not gonna, like, do anything stupid with my phone (If I get one). I hope I can get one in either 5th or 6th grade.

Way too young.

Obviously, society today says no, you are not too young.
But, I think you are too young. I don't see how often you would need to call someone (GASP, a phone, FOR CALLING PEOPLE!!!
) at you're age.

There is no reason why you would need a phone in 4th grade . . .

No.
When would u use it?

No. I'm in 6th grade, and I think that is too young.
Ask again when you get to highschool.

i say once you reach high school. otherwise it's unnecessary.

Your choice. But here is some (hopefully unbiased) info:
My View:
7 and up, unless anything younger has a very good reason.
Most Adults View:
Highschool.
Nowadays Average:
Grade 7 and up is normal, grade 6 is getting a bit too young and under that is unnecessary.
When you start wanting one:
Grade 3. You shouldn't get one when you first want one unless your the right age.
If you need it for things like the library... borrow your mom or dads. I need a cell often, so I borrow my moms. And I'm in grade 7 and I don't really want my own. I'm happy borrowing. Its normal to not have one at your age, even if everyone else has one, don't let peer pressure get to you.

Don't get one yet. At a pretty young age, I started wanting one. A couple years later, viola, I held one in my hands. After that I felt spoiled and all.

Also, if you lose it then you showed your parents that you aren't responsible at all and that would ruin anything else in the future you wanted but you had to take responsibility for. So I would say that you are to young but its up to you and your parents.

Yes. I won't get one until high school. -_-

I'm in 9th, and I barely use it anyway.
In elementary school you shouldn't need one, in middle school you can just use everyone else's, and then in high school it's just nice to have one.

I don't think mobile phones exist. I don't believe in them. They are figments of one's imagination.
Actually, I don't think you should be getting a mobile phone/cell phone until grade 10, 11, 12, or even college. But that's just me, My sister got hers when she was 12. I'm 14 and I don't have one and don't plan to unless I A) get a social life or B) absolutely need one.

I had one in fourth grade and I have one to this day! It has been a giant help for my family and I.

Texting is a state of mind.

You don't have a social life?

My dad said that I might get a phone in 7th grade.
4th is WAYYY too young for a phone. Also, one time at school I saw a person who got in trouble because she was in second grade and she had a PHONE. O.o

In my class people's phones ring ALL THE TIME, but they don't get in trouble.

I know D:< That's too young.
It's like Austria getting a green tractor and Latvia is like,"What?" and he's like "I'm rich but just you wait because that America is always giving away cash." But then Spain gets there first and says,"Why don't you say something, Russia?" And Latvia goes away crying because he's not Russia but apparently China agrees with Spain.![]()

Hmm... I think that if a 4th grader has a cellphone, it should be only for calling parents- no texting or talking with friends. Most 4th graders don't need a phone, but if there are often instances where you need to borrow a phone so you can contact your parents, it would be OK to get one. But I don't think elementary schoolers should get fancy phones- just ones that do the job and that's if and only if getting one in the first place is absolutely necessary.
