Re: microphones

You probably saved it in a folder with many files, try looking harder. If you still don't find it you can search for it with the Search menu in the Start menu (in WinXP, but it should be the same for Vista and 7, dunno about Mac though) or record again as a last resort.

Re: microphones

My microphone is also a Logitech one, on a Windows XP machine.

I use the free Audacity audio program for recording. It shows you the waveforms as you go, and then allows you to change almost everything: volume, pitch, etc.

You can save the recording within Audacity's own format, or can export it immediately as a .wav or MP3 file.

And, Audacity makes clear exactly where you're saving the file.  When I record for a Scratch project I save the .wav file directly into the Scratch media folder (Sounds) to make it easy to import into projects.

Other Scratchers have reported using Audacity with great success.

PS --I've found Audacity really helpful for adjusting the volume of a recording so that it matches the volume of the built-in Scratch sounds so they all end up sounding the same in projects.
