What do you think is the generic storyline for a typical adventure...

.../rpg game?

For example, I think it would be something like:
1. Start with some random ambition or dream.
2. Find something important.
3. Everything's going well.
4. In the middle of a stormy night, something bad happens.
5. Suddenly the world's gonna end (or something like that).
6. Saves the world.
7. Long boring credits play.

What do you think?
(I don't want this to be a tbg, I'm really asking this)

A fat Italian plumber is high and needs your help to eat and stomp 'shrooms, turtles, get even more high with stars, and save the princess.

Re: What do you think is the generic storyline for a typical adventure...

No, you have it all wrong, it should be like this

1. Everything starts out fine
2. Evil dudes come out from space/alternate dimension/hidden place
3. Heros gather and are on their way
4. Go to collect the 7 legendary items and kill their guardians
5. Find that one hero is a: member of royalty/clone/related to the bad guy/something like that
6. Heros kill the evil boss dude (and perhaps alternate boss forms or fake last boss) forms  and everything is fine

If you want to be really lazy then omit steps 1,4,and 5

Do you want a long rpg or a short rpg.... ok that sounded wrong.

Fable 2 is quite a good storyline.

Brother and sister are living out on the slums of Albion old town. This makes matters worse when they live in the view of a gigantic castle. They wish to go there.

A trader comes in town and says he has this music box. Twist it 3 times and you will have a wish granted. They summon enough money to buy it. They wish to live in the castle.

They wake up in the morning and the lord of the castle has invited them both to stay. The lord then uses a strange contraption to check if they are 2 of the 3 legendary heroes. But they are not.... well... the Lord kills the sister. Then once it is the brother's turn, the bullet smashes into him with so much force, he goes out the window but sometimes. Grief  is so bad that even death may keep it's distance.

An old woman tells him that there are actually 4 heroes and he is the fourth. He must get revenge on the Lord of the castle but to do that, he need to unite the other 3 heroes.

So our story begins.

That's fable 2. Awesome game. Quite awesome rpgish plot.
