Why? Even though it would be cool, you could really mess stuff up in the present, with even one touch of your finger. Like if you touched George Washington, maybe he would chase you and fall off a cliff, die, then in present day the land would get all out of shape and into how it would be if he really did die.

Reason 2 not to invent time travel:
The butterfly effect
There's this movie about time travelers and they go back in time to see dinosuars. A T-Rex is chasing them, and one steps on a butterfly, when they go back to the present, evrything has changed... And not in a good way. Reason 2 not to invent time travel:

Don't foget the grandfather paradox. If you went back in time and killed your grandfather, you wouldn't be born, but then you wouldn't have killed your grandfather, but then you'd be born, etc.

I think time travel is kinda, well,
unfair! If you go into the future and see yourself as a teenager, it seems like you're cheating. Like looking ahead in a book and seeing who the killer is, or peeking at a present you've never seen before. Time travel would ruin all the fun, because we could see ourselves fully grown up.

If you dig deep in paradoxes time travel isn't possible.
Because when you go there, even if your actions don't get you noticed, they are there, existing in that time. SO when you go to that time, you will be there.

Yeah, I've thought about this before and concluded time travel makes absolutely no sense. Talk about a whole lot of paradoxes. Even by going back and "doing nothing" you could block sunlight from hitting a tree. Preventing if from growing that little extra bit. The extra bit that would touch a man and make he turn just in time to see a trap laid out for him. This man was George Washington, now he was killed because you stopped that tree from growing the extra bit.
(Yes I know, crude example, but I'm tired)

And if time travel were possible, we could probably see people from the future messing everything up right now.

I guess you're right... so that would mean that either:
1. Time travel is impossible
2. No one from any point in the future has traveled to now
3. You can't tell if someone has time traveled or not
Offline
If time travel was look-only, I'd be all for it.

Actually, that makes it completely impossible because if someone invented a time machine and actually used it, then that means they either were or weren't back in time. It couldn't be both, or else the other time before time machines existed wouldn't exist.
I hope that makes sense. Time travel is confusing and hard to explain.
And if it was look only, that would probably work, but it could mess up your life if you look into the future.

could also mean that we ARE the future and only past travel is possible

you'd have to invent a paradox preventing time machine

I don't want it either. They say going at the speed of light would mess up our faces.

The only time travel possible is forwards in time and people are doing it all the time. Even though it may only be a few seconds over their life time. The faster you move the slower you age but to be able to time travel forward in time to be really noticable you would have to be moving at 100,000s of km/s. You would need somthing like a particle accelerator but for humans (a human accelerator?). Well if I where to try to see if time travel is possible I would start by trying to make a human accelerator and put clocks in it.

MIT had a Time Traveler's convention back in 2005. The idea was that if you threw a big party and told everyone about it, people from the future who can travel through time would see stories about it from the past and decide to go back in time to check it out. But they didn't have any confirmed time traveler's...
But a lot of people dressed up weird and had fun!
(Who knows, maybe some of them were Time travelers, but couldn't be bothered to answer all those questions...

Actually, i beleive that time travel is possible, and non-dangerous. For, if we had invented timetravel, all the things we had done would have already happened, and we therefore have no effect on our personal history. Also, to time travel one would have to travel faster than the speed of light, which as of now is an impossiblity. Who knows if we can do it later though?

Anyone see Donnie Darko?
Or that show Time Squad?
If we do have time travel anytime soon, there will be a goverment force to control it (like everything else) or whatever happens was meant to happen and can't be avoided

You create the future so aslong as you don't affect the past ur fine!

Time travel is the way of the future
No one knows how it was invented. A future man will come to present day one of these days and he will tell us the secret to unlocking it!
Then in a few years after we have raided the future and stolen the technology, we will send a a present man back into the past to give them the secret so we will not blow up the universe.
Unfortunately, after that, the people of the past will rebel and steal all of our present technology
It's the neverending cycle of human greed and time travel

Too bad mods understand Latin too, and I think killing all new people is against our Terms of Use xD
I'd also say you have to fix up your Latin grammar... Shall I fix that up for you ;P ?
