Sure scratch is great in games but what about animation? What about music? What about text and paint tools? programming those two(first two) is like training an ant(No hard feelings ants)!Animation: there have been decent animations but no WOW ones. what they need are onion layers. if you dont know its a tool that allows you to see the costume of a sprite before on your current new costume just slightly opaque, allowing transculency. that would allow animation to be smoother.Music: I have another topic on that just search for it. text: You cant even make a text with more than one colour or font in it.And the font sizes are so random. You should be able to control the size with a slider variable like thing. Now paint editor tools: something every artist would want. You should be able to control the size with a slider variable too.You should also be able choose your own mediums too. like maybe spray paints, wax crayon, pencil, felt markers etc. that would be cool!!!!! Did you hear, read that? Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-). these will change scratch forever!

Scratch is just to teach programming.
And you can do animation. You're saying there have been no WOW animations.
Well there are no WOW games either.
Scratch isn't just for drawing, why not just download a free art program like seashore?
You can display layers, have control over text sizes, use AA and more in those programs. But that's not what scratch is for.
HAVE YOU SEEN HOW SOME PEOPLE HAVE CREATED MUSIC IN SCRATCH?
Animation would use the same things as games, just with no interaction.

Just because nobody has created a WOW animation doesn't mean Scratch is limited.
Scratch is for programming, not just drawing, so you can't expect the paint editor to be like Photoshop. You can use programs that were built for art and import the results into Scratch.

Scratch could be said to be limited, if you want something with wider boarders, try learning actionscript or buy flash.

Or go for free alternatives, like Processing, JavaFX, and so on.
I feel that indeed Scratch is limiting, but it is intentional, to avoid confusing new comers.
Once you start hitting the walls limiting your creativity, it is probably time to move to a higher/complexer language or framework.

Or move up a level and use one of the modded version of scratch if your not ready to move on, but im doing both, so thats just me being difficult.

It's true, there are limits to Scratch.
You may notice that software that is used for animations and has less limitations can get pretty complex. Try Blender for example - it takes quite a while to get the hang of it, even to make a simple startup project. There's nothing wrong with that, and I wouldn't say that Scratch or Blender is best. They just have different goals.
The goals of Scratch are to make software that allows people with little to no programming experience create interesting projects quickly and easily. That's why you don't have to read a 50 page manual before you start Scratching -- all you have to do is just install it and play around, and pretty soon you'll be able to come up with something cool. And even though it's simple, you can still make some pretty complex stuff with it. That simplicity is really important to us - and it's help make Scratch and the Scratch community successful and fun.

Note that there is also a free alternative to Flash, actionscript coding with the open source HaXe, http://haxe.org/. It doesn't come with a nice IDE (Integrated Development Environment), though.
