Ever got a comment on your project or a post on your thread like this?

Your game is rubbish get a life i hate your projects and i hate this scratch thingy too

When someone does this it is considered 'trolling'. Trolling is when someone decides to post something off-topic, that is rude or hurtful, just to get a reaction.

So How Do I Stop It?

Trolls are here for one thing. To annoy us. To get a reaction from us. So the best way to stop trolls is to not react!

When you get a rude comment like the one above, here's what to do:

◕ DON'T react. Don't even reply to them. Replying or reacting to them is what they want, eg. 'feeding the trolls'.
◕ If they are making rude comments on your projects, click the 'flag as inappropriate' button at the bottom left of their comment next to 'reply'.

◕ If the rude comments continue, report the incident(s) to the Scratch Team. You can do that by clicking here.
◕ Add the person making rude comments on your projects to your ignore list if you no longer wish to recieve comments from them:

◕ If they are posting rude things on your forum thread, just ignore them as above. If they continue to be rude and disruptive, click the 'report' button at the bottom right of their post:

Hack him back and put your name on his ignore list, so he won't be able to see your comments

Nice guide! I usually go straight to the reporting because ignoring is not always the best solution. Only when you are being bullied. Great job on the visuals by the way! tongue

I got a comment like that on one of my first projects, and although it was pretty horrible, he/she was pretty mean about it. I deleted the comment. But I got another one (different person) on a different project... sad

lol I was having a conversation with my friend Kevin about trolls last week, and he didn't seem to understand what they were, so I explained. He replied that he had previously know trolling as "flaming". So I immediately drew the obvious conclusion, and took it to the next level:

TROLLS WITH FLAMETHROWERS!

Before contacting the Scratch Team, it's best if Scratchers flag any disrespectful or trollish comments. The flagging system is much more efficient for our mod team. Of course, if the disrespectful comments continue, or if there's a situation that's too difficult to explain in the flag explanation, then please do use the contact us link!

So: how about adding something this after the "Don't respond" and before "contact us"?

Click the "flag as inappropriate" link next to the comment. This will remove the comment and send a message to the Scratch Team so they can look into the situation.

Other than that, it's looks awesome!

There is a small typo though:

"If rude the rude comments" should be "If the rude comments"
