What about chain comments? Should those be flagged?

Some times i think the moderator job isn't appreciated enough.

Haha. When i first joined, a lot of people put links to their projects in their comments. I, being clueless, would reply and praise their spam. Thanks a lot for letting me know that thats not cool.

Why do people spam? It dosent make sense.
Trying to gain popularity (for scratch)...which for me, makes no sense because in several cases it does the opposite. That's when the others bring out the Ignore list

I like telling people who are spamming that they shouldnt.
It makes me feel mod-ish.
However, usually a mod tells them before I do!

ALL I KNOW IS SPAM (the unknown food-ish substance) tastes disgusting.

Hey lightnin, should you add Quote Trains as spam? Because all they do are clutter up the forums.

I think we should define a more "strict" set of spamming. Cause there isn't just SEO spam and two worded posts that have nothing to do with the topic. There is also spam that looks like it isn't but is.
For example posts like "No sorry, I don't know" or "I can't help" is spam. It doesn't help the topic owner with their question (unless of course the question is "Can (insert name) help me?") and makes the forums more messy, and increases the user's post count (which is why the ST changed the post counts to post count levels).
Types of spam
- No posting things like "Sorry, I don't know" if it does not help the topic [owner].
- No comment chains.
- No testing posts. If you wish to test something, then use the "Preview" button. (Maybe we should add a preview button to the Quick Post box)
- Keep off-topic posts in the comments of the user's projects or in the appropriate topic.
Code of Conduct or something:
Creating Topics
Before creating - Make sure to check the stickies at the top of each forum, they are likely to answer common questions, and sometimes even have less common questions answered.
Titles - Keep titles short and informative. "Help!" does help you get the users you need to help you. If you post "Scrolling Help" or "Trigonometry Help", then people that know how will come to your topic and explain it. Experienced users like to help people with stuff they are experienced in and will skip topics they aren't skilled in. So if you post a topic like "Help" the experienced users are less likely to help you because they don't know what you need help with.
Post - Once you have a good title that explains what you need in general, but still specifies what type of help you need, then in the main post, explain exactly what you need help with. With as much detail as you can possibly give. Posting "I need help with scrolling" isn't good enough. Do you want a Side-Scroller or Platform game, or do you want a top-down game like Legend of Zelda? Do you want to move in any direction like in Asteroids but in a larger playing field, or do you just want to move up, down, left, and right?
Replying to Topics/Posts
If you can't help at all or dislike their project, then don't reply unless you have constructive criticism or you tell them where they are more likely to get help. If you give a reply that doesn't help the topic [owner], then it's just a useless post and could be considered spam. If you have knowledge in the topic, or know somewhere where the question has already been answered, then give a quick link and answer any other extra questions.
If the topic is spam or is in the wrong section, just report the topic and don't give a reply. "This doesn't belong here. Reported." is mean/rude, doesn't help the user, and makes them feel like they are in trouble. If you aren't sure if it belongs in the current section but have some ideas, bring up the point and figure out the best location for the topic.
When you report a topic to be moved but you also have information that can help the user, don't report the topic and wait for it to be moved then reply to it. Just report the topic then post what information you can give. Don't mention the fact it's in the wrong section, just give the information and soon it will be moved.
Bumping Topics
Recently I've also noticed that people bump topics that are an hour old. It's not entirely annoying, but it would be better if you waited a day or at least until the topic isn't on the first page anymore. Bumping new topics is just spamming especially when not everyone hasn't even been given time to see it.
So please wait a day before you bump!
That is probably most of it. But I think it covers my point.

They're not really spam if they're on-topic.
