First Projects Column on Front Page
Perhaps it could go under Newest Members on the front page. It would simply be links to 4 or so to projects that were recently uploaded and are the creators' very first project. The Newest Members column is a nice greeting for new users but because most of the users in the column haven't uploaded any projects or made any galleries, we can't welcome them. A First Projects column would allow first time sharers to get more feedback on their projects and be welcomed into our community.
What do you think?

This is a great idea! IMO it would work great underneath the Newest Projects section (when you're signed in).
I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

This is really cool - we've actually been working on something related to this already!
This page has projects by Scratchers who haven't received many comments recently. Anyone can check it out and leave helpful comments.

I think it still deserves a bit on the front page, because then, as scmb1 said, we would be able to give feed back, to new users, not just ones who haven't had any comments. Then, it being on the front page, it would be noticed more often.
