Somebody probably already explained this, but why was the app removed?

It violated the policy that an app cannot run code.

I thought it had to do with the TOS

Re: iPhone App

It's too bad apple took this off the app store. It would have been a really good app.

Re: iPhone App

hmmmmmmm... I see that the iphone app got deleted because I tried the URL and it just told me that sorry, this app is not available in the us store. But couldn't you do it as a web app in scratch 2.0? Yes I know it wouldn't be as convenient but I think it would work. I remember hearing somewhere that with web-apps on the iphone, anything is allowed. I'm not totally sure, though.

Flash isn't supported by ipods.  Scratch2.0 is flash.  In other news, I'm posting this from within the scratch app (I got the source code  big_smile )

I know that it doesn't support flash. But wouldn't it be possible to post a different website for the iphone/ipad that uses html and/or javascript?

Some scratchers are trying to make that, but it is really complicated.  Flash is nothing like html, and neither is squeak.

Re: iPhone App

I think html5 and javascript could work for a web app! I'm looking in to making it myself. Reply if you like this idea!

Re: iPhone App

Alright, everyone, there IS a Scratch app (YAY!!) for iOS, but it's not on the app store (Awww...).

Your device needs to be rooted in some way (jailbroken) and then you need to install THIS IPA file somehow (installous is probably the easiest)

Oh, and DO look at all pages of THIS thread.

I believe the app costed $4 when it was on the app store (before Apple blah blah blah removed it blah blah blah), but now it's open source and HERE is the source code. Maybe it's a different one... I don't know.

EDIT: Sorry for sounding kinda annoyed, I just wanted to calm everyone down and give a direct way to install it. If you do not know how to use Installous, ask me and I will (sigh......) maybe make a nice tutorial for you.

...better yet, make a point and click [project], get an Android, and [use] it on there.

Well, it doesn't have to be just mouse controlled. Try holding down Menu. I heard it causes the keyboard to pop up.  smile

Remember, mouse-overs make no sense on a touchscreen, so forget those.

bye 1.4, we all loved you. but we all outgrew the site. 2.0 is a welcome change.
