Re: Artificial Intelligence Contest

Heh - I ran one of these ages ago.

Question:  Must the sprite center be set to the geometric center of the shape?

Is there any limit to how quickly turns can be made?

u shouldn't have asked the first question, now everyone will use it so he'll have to take it out.

Just wait...

I will change it to
60 frames!!!!!!
Thus a perfect robot and projectile will be able to close 120 pixels if you see what I mean.

... I'm pretty sure it's frames.

I doubt what you're saying, because if the projectiles can move at 12 steps/pixels per frame, and the robots can move at 10 steps/pixels per frame, than there must be an issue. Its possible that you're correct if either:

A) You have a very tiny robot, which is not allowed because it has to meet the costume size specification.

B) You haven't thought about heat seeking projectiles  wink

mine shoots heat seekers and can't be hit by them  smile

more like position seekers as sprites don't produce heat.

Mine will have all of this and more and better  tongue  I've already done some crazy work on it.

No limit to turning.
It must be in the geometric center.
Don't worry deatheater already pointed this out to me, I was going to change it I just forgot.

So:

The rotational center must be in the geometrical center of your sprite!!!

Re: Artificial Intelligence Contest

Woot - I made a pixel perfect position calculator (with the power of simultaneous equations and the Pythagoras Theorem)!

Now to make the robot...

Nice!

I'm working on making mine look prettiful.

I've already done the hard part (pixel perfect location sensing using two distances)

I thought you are given pre-made costumes to prevent size cheating...

...No.

Demosphenes has made an example costume and I am basing my robot off of the size of that.

Yes, that, or you can actually make your own robot, but it has to be larger than the minimum required size.

Cool. I think mine will work, seeing as its just a brute force finder, and then a simple shoot towards me type deal. Its very simple.

For sensing area and for dodging. Paired with a dot that senses all around, it pwns.
