A very helpful command prompt command

well i know this from ages and now i would like to share it with you guys the command is
attrib

Just typing it in a directory will tell you what are the files in the directory u can use it to change attributes of a file but i will recommand using the folder settings option.

now what it will show will be like
C:\Documents and Settings\alpha>attrib
A     H      C:\Documents and Settings\alpha\NTUSER.DAT
A     H      C:\Documents and Settings\alpha\NTUSER.DAT.LOG
   S  H      C:\Documents and Settings\alpha\ntuser.ini
A          C:\Documents and Settings\alpha\.recently-used.xbel

here A tells the file is archive
        S tells its system
H tells that it is hidden
R (not show here are readonly)

MUST TELL A SYSTEM HIDDEN FILE CANT BE SHOWN BY simple Show hidden files and folder button

u can show it from here by using
attrib <filename> -<the thing u want to apply remove (A,S,H,R) >  smile

this command is useful whenever u need to find something hidden by system as viruses etc .
