Re: My computer's sick.

Norton's horrible D:
It never detected a single virus.
And then it stopped working completely and wouldn't let me scan a single thing.
Then it started causing problems with things so I uninstalled it.

Anyway, I got Spybot and I'm running a scan right now.

Re: My computer's sick.

yeah there are some advanced viruses that are impossible to remove from your computer, you could possibly try running command prompt to remove those files in particular, it might work due to that it is a more manual approach while in windows you can hack it so it will block actions to files

Re: My computer's sick.

Norton isn't horrible, its blocked every virus attack on my computer (All of 3 of them) My conclusion, you didn't let it up date its self (Maybe your internet security settings were to high or something, idk) or you were doing things you shouldn't have and click on something, (Strangely the answer to this is "No i wasn't doing anything, it just happened!" or something along those lines) Or you just have terriable anti-virus.

Nope.
Norton one day just stopped working completely.
It's because my computer got a glitch because someone in my family accidentally shut down the computer while updating.
Then after that, Norton kept on trying to update itself, but failed everytime, causing it to basically stop working.

@Dingdong,
do you have any idea what files I should remove?

Re: My computer's sick.

yeah norton was good briefly, now it is once amongst the worst security software programs

well no, but I'm guessing AVG marked which files are the problems, so you can use the link to find them (C:\***\***\***...)

Re: My computer's sick.

If Chrome doesn't open at all, try renaming Chrome.exe or whatever and renaming it to Chrome.com, see what the virus has the power to block.

IF U ARE USING WINDOWS
Restart ur system and while its starting press "F8 or F5" till you get to the advanced windows boot menu from there select . DIRECTORY SERVICES REPAIR MODE . let the system boot if messages appear click on yes browse the internet( you will lose skins though) If everything is right u wont have the malware.

the problem could also be caused due to what we say BLIND installtions so u just might have installed something xtra with something  smile  i hope your problem gets solved soon .

Isn't a Trojan, when they disguise the virus as a program trying to notify you of viruses, but actually are viruses.

No. The Trojans were the people who fell for it. The Greeks were the smart people.

Re: My computer's sick.

lol.
Actually, although this trojan is annoying, it doesn't really affect anything too much.
I mean, I can still use Mozilla, and the random links only come up around an hour or so.
And AVG automatically blocks any threats from it.

So yeah.

@Dingdong,

Well then its not Nortons fault, and you have no reason to say its horrible, Norton is only a program, it simply follows instructions, computers are very think (In the words of my computing teacher) All they can do is do stuff with 1's and 0's which can turn into very amazing things, but! thats not my point. If you turn something off when its doing something, you are likely going to muck the computer, and/or the program its running at that point, up. So its the person which was using the computer at-that-point's fault.

Re: My computer's sick.

I'm thiking that it has somthing to do with what you searched on google at one point. Alot of searches have trjan horses in them. I suggest to get a virus scanner, (ex: norton anti-virus, spybot, ect.) If you can help it, do [i]not[/i hire a repair man. A virus was on my computer one time, we hired a repair man, and he put a conterfit windows xp on my computer.
