Help! I can't save my project!
when I save, whether through ctrl+s or the save button, Squeak complains with this message:

And it just won't let me save!
Any suggestions?
(yes, I have been looking through the source code and making some new blocks, but that was several saves and uploads ago)

Sorry, I should have been clearer - I am trying to save a SCRATCH project, but squeak (as the VM for scratch) won't let me.

Nice topic title. Almost had me fooled into thinking it was something about scratch (just kidding
)
Right click on the scratch window in the explorer bar and try changing the VM preferences. It might help. I've never gotten this message myself.

There are numerous things that it could be.
The best way is if you save the image file (with your project loaded), and send it to me here: streakmail@gmail.com.

It looks like a problem with the following things:
Block strings
Project updating
No dialog for save

Oh now that I've read the error statement, (werll, the text in your first post) I'm thinking you must have accidentally altered scratch's saving method in squeak. Were you trying to activate Mesh, messing around with morphs, or trying to read the Squeak scripts recently? (That last one might apply for you because I remember you saying you were trying to learn Squeak )

I was adding some new blocks (by Billy Edward) and they worked fine and saved fine too. then this error popped up. it wouldn't let me save, so I took the brilliant suggestion from Paradox - I exported any changed or new sprites and restarted everything. the error hasn't presented itself again since (that's about 5 saves ago now)
it's a good things too - I'd just done a major bug fix for my scratch survey

Try uploading, and then downloading. That should work.

Were you playing with morphs perhaps?
