Scratch for Arduino?

Folks,

Recently, one of the studios at TEI 2010 conference at the MIT Media Lab introduced Scratch for Arduino (http://www.tei-conf.org/10/studios/paper131.pdf).
Does anyone know if Scratch for Arduino environment will be available soon?
My apologies if here is not the right scratch forum for that question.
Regards,

Antonio

Re: Scratch for Arduino?

I, too, have asked about Scratch for the Arduino.  The Modkit project looks the most promising, but is still undergoing private testing.  I don't know when it is supposed to be ready.

You may also find this write-up on using BYOB and Catenary to program the Arduino interesting.  It is somewhat incomplete and not necessarily easy to set up, but interesting nonetheless.

Re: Scratch for Arduino?

This is a great idea. I was wondering when someone was going to try this. A hack I thought of would be to use the Chirp XML exporter to export to XML http://chirp.scratchr.org/xmlscripts.html

Then write a parser that converts this to C++ compatible with an AVR. That would have been a complex project though.

Modkits seems like a proper professional way to go about this. I did also see an interface to EToys somewhere as well.

This could seriously boost the popularity of the Arduino even further, because it gives a muh lower cost alternative to NXT for example.
