Is it January 1st in China? I know I seem stupid but, a year should at least start on the 1st of a month.  tongue

Back then we used the Lunar calendar, so when the full moon came, it would be the start of the year. However, China now uses the Gregorian calender (the one people use today) for business and all that, so technically, the year does start on the 1st of a month.  It's just that on Chinese New Year, we keep the tradition of the Lunar calender. So, since the full moon is on the 14th of February this year, "Chinese New Year" starts.

I'm not sure if that was completely accurate, but I hope that answers your question.
