I had made a project using scratch and had saved it several times. I then turned the computer (a dell with windows 7 and tons of memory) thinking I was done. When I turned it back on the file was totally gone!!! Can anyone tell me how to recover it and what happened??? Help! THANKS!

That sounds weird... did you turn off the computer while Scratch was saving?

Do you remember any part of the file name you saved it under?
If so, search for that. If the part you remember is 'project,' then search for:
*project*.sb
Use asterisks (*) to represent any number, including 0, of characters you don't remember. Use Question marks to represent exactly one character you don't remember. If this turns up nothing, try searching for hidden and system files, too. You can try sifting through all scratch projects on your computer by searching for
*.sb
. If this still is in vain, then reply and I'll direct you to an NTFS deleted file restorer. (Oh yeah, first check the recycle bin). However, my guess is that a typo or slip of the mouse put the file somewhere you didn't expect it to be.

Billyedward--thanks for the help!
We tried to search for the *.sb file. it comes up as a 47.9 KB blank scratch screen--not more. By the way, does the Windows 7 environment present any issues? It is not listed as one of the systems it can use...
I am intrigued with the restore environment--would love to hear more if you get a chance!
tnx!

I've heard that Scratch works fine on Windows 7.

Scratch does work fine on Windows 7. I used to run it on Windows 7, until I got Windows 8.

Windows 8? I'm reluctant to believe that.

OK. If you found the file, then we can see whether it is even restorable. See here to test this.
If it is, then we can proceed with the file restoration process. If not, than you'll need software to scan the whole disk.
