No, if you have any understanding of what you are going it should take about that long. The first version doesn't have to be complex. The problem with a lot of groups like this is that they get hyped over things to include but when it comes time to make something functional it all falls a part.
How I made mine was I put all the commands in a list. The program ran though the list and called a broadcast for each block. For instance if value 1 in the list is "move" then it would broadcast "move" which would move the main sprite.
Thats how i would do it.

See, its simple. Now, go and make a simple version.

Got an idea guys, insted of using blocks, we just use lists along the top, with a maximum of like 5/6 scripts per program.
Opinions?
Maybe we should make a punbb forums for this if we want to be serious about this.
Oh no, you should definitely code blocks into it. Lists can be part of it and doing all the hard work in the background because the user doesn't want to concern themselves with lists. The blocks are just some user friendly tools that the user can use to modify the list.

Yeah, the word Userfriendly sums it all up. that was a stupid idea. Im working ont he simple one right now.

No, I don't think it was a stupid idea, if you made it with just lists then it would be mostly done anyways. Once you have the list system working there are lots of ways you could let the user modify the lists. Since blocks are used in scratch they seem like a good way of letting the user edit the lists.

Ok, plus it visualalizes it for the user.

I just don't like making versions of things. I'd rather have just one project than version Ver0.001 through Ver89.7
Besides that, I already know how I can get it to work.

Any developer of anything makes multiple versions of something when they are making something large. This allows you to find certain flaws and perfect the new features among other things. For really simple projects you can make 1 version but for more complex ones making multiple versions is beneficial.

Well I wouldn't call my projects really simple, but they aren't too complex either.

I find it easy to catalog things if i have version, plus its like an archive.

Why don't you just remember what you- oh yeah. Only I can do that

Yeah, I guess you are right Ace-of-Spades. You know better than all the professional developers who make lots of versions of their programs, even the scratch developers made several beta of each version but they were wrong in doing so according to you.

If you're referring to that last post I made, I meant the archive thing. I can memorize things if I see them, so I don't need to have any backups. I still don't see the upside of having multiple versions of something though.

Upside, backups, downside, uses more hard drive space.
I have a program which im working on slowly which has...17 versions, and another which has... 12 (And iv been an idiot and marked them wrongly aswell
)

That upside is useless to me. If I wanted to go backwards, I could just remember what I did earlier.

Umm... Markyparky56 I will not be available for the week and I want you to be in command until I am back. Korneal is not available so you are in charge and I hope that you and the team make big progress! (P.S. Mathwizz will answer most of you questions just go to one of his projets).
