Are you saying projects like this, this and this are just stupid slideshows? You have just seen a few slideshows and then made an incorrect generalization about the whole Scratch Community.

likely he did. Or he is just someone who came back to make a rubbish insult and left again.

Plus, Scratch has a cool cat mascot. Powerpoint has nothing even close, unless you want to count the talking paperclip (who remembers that monstrosity?).Powerpoint has visualbasic built into it
I made a Internet browser in Powerpoint
Powerpoint > ScratchAn internet browser in PP? What a croc.... odile
Actually, this is quite possible. The MS Office tools have access to VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) which is quite flexible and powerful. I have used VBA in Excel to write full blown applications that had very little to do with a spreadsheet.
However, VBA is a text-based scripting language with syntax rules and lots of options that make it not as well suited for a teaching language as Scratch. It's pretty awesome as a way to extend the functionality of MS office applications though

So, what? This guy can program websites in powerpoint and yet he can't understand how to do Scratch?

I made a haunted house in powerpoint. And an escape game. That's what I do in computer science. Just sit there and make Power point games.

Wrong class. Meant to put architecture. The teacher turns off the internet from time to time so people can actually get to work for once, and that's where PP is the greatest thing ever.

The only thing you can do is click though. I don't think they make keyboard commands for power point.

If you think about it even advaced stuff like flash is powerpoint. You are just putting a few frames together and adding some code. Scratch is mainly for children/kids to imagine.
Scratch has some pretty advanced neat tricks up it's sleeve. You can scroll. You can make some cool games.
Most of all you can achieve things. Although it's a rubbish game I spent about a week on my "Save rook" game. It may not be the best game in the world but I am pleased to have made it. It was an achievement for me.

If you actually thought about it, you'd see that Flash isn't at all like power point.

True. If someone doesn't believe that, play this game by illusionist: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/illusionist/879463
That is all the proof you need, jlsadshead.

Yeah I mean you can make Slideshows in flash. If you think about it the frames are the slides and then you can add a next button to go to the next frame.

yeah, but it'd be a bit more complex to do that than do it in scratch, as he said. I think you use actionscript for flash.
