Re: Fuse RPG

Top downs can be scrollers. They're cool. And easier to script, in my opinion. Not as complicated collision testing.

Whatever you say. Let's try to get a base done before Sunday so that each person can get to work on something different.

Re: Fuse RPG

Wait, would it still be a scroller if it is turn-based?

I guess so. Maybe boss battles could be turn-based and regular enemies are melee. That's what I suggested.

Perhaps maybe you can go a certain length per turn? But it would still be a scroller.

My idea probably won't work.

Re: Fuse RPG

Okay, sorry for taking over, I am just good at it  tongue  :
1 - Make base before end of week
2 Assign individual parts for each programmer to work on so we can mush it all together when we are done with each part

Re: Fuse RPG

So, we want a scrolling, top-down turn-based RPG? What will be contained in each turn?

Ever heard of Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door? How about Mario and Luigi: Super Star Saga? Whenever you knock into an enemy you are transported to the turn-based battle system. The rest is scrolling.

Re: Fuse RPG

I am not the best programmer so don't expect me to know everything. That is one of the reasons why I joined this to collab. To learn more from you two.

Sounds like a good idea. But I thought there should be enemies, in Mario games case, Goombas, it would take too long. Goombas are everywhere, it would be boring for every single enemy you touch to go into tbs mode.

Perhaps the stronger enemies send you to tbs mode.

Re: Fuse RPG

Yeah... You can attack minor enemies without going into TBS, but for major ones you use TBS.
