Mesh Users,Post Your IP Address here!
Thanks to mathwiz,we now have a wonderful tool called mesh that allows people to play multi-player games on seperate computers(you need to download the projects,though).This has started games like this one,made by RHY375467(or something like that)http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/RHY3756547/864408 (this project includes instructions on linking computers and a link to mathwiz's tutorial) .The only problem is,I don't have anyone that would voluntarily play!Solve this by posting your IP address here.As far as I know,no personal info can be gained this way,but if you are reluctant to then I understand.Anyway,mine is 192.680.0.100 .Now post yours! Feel free to ask someone to play,as long as you have a game in mind and the game's link.

Thanks for clearing things up,fg123! I know nothing about IP addresses,so I probably would've called a mod if I got another "danger alert" post.Also,if your intrested in playing a mesh game,then could you post your mesh IP?

I thought that you could only do it over your local area network. Not over the internet. Anyway I have made scroller that uses mesh. http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/what-the/864768 you race your apponent to the finish and you can see where they are no matter where you are in the game.

You can only use Mesh over LAN if you have a router, but if you don't then you can use it over the internet.

The IP address it gives me is my LAN IP not my Internet IP. So If I wanted to do it over the Internet I would have to unplug my router and connect directly to the Internet connection, correct? but then It would give out my Internet IP right?
My site Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

You're router is already connected to the internet, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to use the internet.

You have to be on the same LAN to use Mesh with someone else, unless you set up a dynamic DNS service to that local IP, but then you would give away your external IP in doing so. (Even if it is a mirror-ish)

Mind you, if people know your IP address, they may a) find where you live (in some places, it's pretty accurate) b) hack you for real. I wouldn't do this until I'm sure what I'm dealing with.

I'm with filo5 on this one...knowing the IP, people can get a pretty accurate idea of where you are connecting from. And it may expose you to hackers. As far as I know, Mesh only works between computers on the same local network anyway (I may be wrong here) so there's really no good reason to advertise your IP.

I have to actually look into it, but you COULD set up a Dynamic DNS service (No-IP, dyndns.org, etc.) to your local IP and play on Mesh with it.
But if you type

ping <my dynamic dns>
into the command line, it will give away your real IP.
So, no, while it could be possible, don't do it.

Using something like this: http://www.dyndns.com/ to control one computer on your LAN, not the router. Which can be done.

I'm not posting my IP. You can get hacked by your IP. Worst of all, it can also show someone exactly where you are.
