A few questions:
1. Will Scratch 2.0 have the fabled "open web page [ ]" block?
2. Will Scratch 2.0 have the equally fabled "show list { v}" and "hide list { v}" blocks?
3. Will Mesh have its much-deserved official release?
4. Will there be any major changes other than Internet capability?
And a few requests:
1. Can the Scratch Team send a message to all users on the day of the official release?
2. Can the Scratch Team post the release date on the site prior to the release?
3. Can the Scratch Team release 1.4.2 with the show/hide list blocks?
Let's see... Questions first:
1. Probably - or something like it. We're still in the early stages, but one of our design goals is to make Scratch 2.0 more connected to the web.
2. Seems like there is a lot of demand for this. Still too soon to tell, but it's on the list.
3. "Mesh" may not be the official name, but Scratch 2.0 will have some similar functionality. Remember - projects will be both edited and viewed on the web. This makes it much easier to allow them to interact, since they both will be running on the same server.
4. Scratch 2.0 will have a great deal of changes. But we're still in the process of figuring them out.
Requests next:
1. Oh yeah, don't worry - we'll put a banner up. The release is _at least_ one year away.
2. When we have a release date, we'll let everyone know. There is a ton of work to be done first.
3. Unlikely. If we do make an interim release, it will probably have the same functionality as 1.4, just with a few bug fixes.

I love it when we get some straight answers, Why not release it in stages? Build up to 2.0 like your doing already, it'll get a bit borring (For me maybe) with just having 1.4 and not having any new features arriving every now and again, but then... are you re-writing it in Flash or just making the online in flash or is it not true that your doing it in flash?

Scratch 2.0 looks well planned out.
There's still some annoying bugs in 1.4 (e.g. hidden variables resetting their position), so just a mini-release with minor bug fixes would be nice.

A couple of quick questions:
Since scratch 2.0 will be more web-based, Will the 10 MB limit on projects be removed?
If scratch comes out with a open web page [ ] block, what will you do to prevent the web page being opened to be a bad site? (i.e virus site, etc)

1. No, I know they won't.
2. They might have a list of websites that are good. If the user types in a bad website, the block will throw it away I guess.

What woulds would that involve, would YouTube be blocked? My school blocks YouTube because of the aparent bad comments on projects.

Maybe you should be able to configure the player to open any website, any website with alert before (Something like "This project wants to open the webpage (URL), proceed?"), only good websites, or no websites. Maybe only the last option and a mix of the second and third would be good.

I like that idea of the alert.

You should be able to upload sounds, images, and video. (Flash is video capable, so it would work better.)

How would scratch be able to use the video? break it down to seperate frames? That way would be pretty good...

Flash supports video. Just upload a .flv or something. Or, scratch could convert it...

Scratch should convert it, if it even happens, you already said flash supports video,

Yes, it fixes some bugs the Linux version had I guess.
Just wondering, will we be able to import 1.4 projects into 2.0? Many people will need that feature

Yeah, hopefuly. Maybe if it cant, construct a converter somehow?
Iv got a far fetched suggestion, an exporter for different programming languages would be helpful, plus it'd help you learn other languages.

Why do people talk about whats in v2.0 when v1.5 hasn't come out yet? why not talk about whats next and not what is coming long time too?

Can someone explain to me what good would having a open web page block and what it would be used for in a program other than advertisement? I think that the sidebar works just fine.
