Wars are not necessary but when you do the maths it's almost inevitable.

Greed + Power = Insanity
Insanity + Not getting their way = Big mess
Big mess + Not enough resources = "It's not my fault" + Blame it on the little guy

War is never a need, but sometimes it is an option, and others, the only option.
It comes from actually, the only thing, anger. Simple, small wars. A toddler takes a toy from another small child. The child who originally had the toy is now mad and doesn't like the other child, and -possibly- wants to begin revenge. Or on a bigger scale, the Athenian war over salamis, America's oil scandel with Kuwait and Iraq.

But is it needed? What could the child do instead of revenge. He could ask, he could ignore, he could make an effort to share and make a friend.

War's not necessary, but it's something humankind craves. Not all, but something, anger that runs in our blood. THats why, but there are ways to run a civilization, with better ways to live.

War isn't necessary in many situations. We have brains and the ability to speak, why can't we just stand each other's presence for an hour or two to discuss a peace treaty?
What really gets me is how younger section of our society is partly obsessed with war, thinking "How cool would it be to fire an AK-47 in real life while fighting for my country?" and not considering how terrible you would actually feel if you were actually doing so. If such people were to come into power, they would declare war immediately on someone who really wasn't a threat, but "let's just make sure". They'd end up with hundreds of thousands of people dead for no important reason; more of a blood feud on their part.
War is not cool, guys. I know people who have been in WWII and I know that war is not cool.

the world has been distorted so much so that wars seem to be needed, but truly they aren't, humans just need to learn to agree or at least respect others' opinions

Nothing is necessary, really.
It isn't necessary for humans to breath. Yes, they'll die. But that doesn't make it necessary to do it. Something will happen, yes, but it's a choice to breath, and to live, and do anything.
