You don't even know what published means...
Also you don't even know HOW to get a book published. It takes about 18 more MORE months for a common person to get a book published unless you are J K Rowling... -.- how are you so sure a common person like you can get 2 books published. Eh?

My friend at school got her book published over the summer break. It's a really good story, and the art was amazing

if you mail it to like, 100 publishers, maybe 1 will consider it. it is very hard to get published
No, you don't know how hard it is to get something published. I knew this friend and back in 1999(yes...1999) he started writing a book and he finished in that same year and he finally got it published...in 2008....he didn't just send to 100 publishers but THOUSANDS...sorry but i forgot the name of the book. Its been a long time since i heard the name of the book.

I'm writing too - No offence, but probably better than you somelia. I may not have a good amount of text for a chapter book, but I'll think of some story, some way. And getting published is hard like h***(censored just incase). Your chance is 0.000001/5000

So? I'm a writer, I've written a book, but I don't expect to get published.

I'd hate for me to get published - Actually. I don't want to be interviewed in kids magazines.

Brilliant, somelia! Good luck on your books.
I'm working on a book myself - but it seems to be a bit big, it'll take a while.

Lay off people. Jeez. Your right, alot of books don't get published. But if you actually put work into it (Not the writing part) it becomes much more likely. For instance, if you meet the editor, you have a much better chance. Rather than just send a manuscipt, send a letter asking what would be best, along iwht a short synopisis of your story. Getting published is only hard because the majority just send their manuscript and wait. You have to be proactive about it.
Somelia, congrats on the completion of your book. I hope that it gets published, and that it does well. Could you post a small summary, so we can see what it is about?
I am currently working on a book myself. Started three weeks ago, shortly after christmas, and have so far written 10,000 words, or fifteen pages on Word.

1. What evidence do you have to say that somelia doesn't know what "published" means? None. Therefore, it was an unkind and condescending thing to say.
2. You have your facts about J.K. Rowling wrong. Please look up and read about how the Harry Potter series was originally published, and you will understand why.
TheSaint and Jonathanpb, thank you for posting something constructive.

When I first read that, I saw 1500 words. I thought, thats not much for a five book series. Not even enough for one short story. Then I saw that it was pages. He must be working very hard. Good luck dude. (Must add a Smiley.)

Uh, it has been stopped. Not been working on it for a long time. Just kind of lost intrest. Eh, I may start it up again. Actually, I most likely will, if I ever become bored again.
