Hello I am Keani, a 15 year old female scratcher. I have found many projects in th new projects section with most disturbing pictures like a man's private. These people obviously don't care about the amount of 5-13 year olds who may stumble upon these. So I think scratch needs a group of certain scratchers who are allowed to delete this projects straight away with out the long wait of flagging. Please listen and stop these images. proceeding to young kids minds.

Project flagged many times is automatically deleted. It is also advised not to share your personal information. I'm not a moderator, but I know what I'm talking about.

Oh jesus, not another Scratch Police. It's been done before. However, the kids ruling the SP had the power go to their heads and they flagged innocent projects that contained small amounts of non graphic blood, low acts of violence. I heard about them from some guy telling the story of the joker, some old scratcher who put his stamp all over projects and made them not work or something.

Because Sid described them as such when he told me about the scratch site. This place has way too much drama, he said. You guys probably don't know what the joker is though, he's 2 years old.

Just the name of the friend who showed me scratch. I can't remember his username, I'll ask him about it later. Anyways he told me about a bunch of things. When he joined, some guy called the joker was going around stamping projects, whatever that means, so there was a 'crack' team of users formed to fight against him. The epitome of evil, joker, vs. the embodiment of fail, the scratch police (I'm quoting him exactly). Then he told me about some crazy guy named parrot who cyber bullied him into giving up the scratch forums, and that's all I remember.

I don't think this suggestion is in reference to an idea similar to the "Scratch Police" (which is a group that overabuses the flag system to their advantage), but rather something else: a group that has the power to automatically delete projects that break the Terms of Use.

I wouldn't mind having a group of off-forum moderators to remove projects that blatantly break the Terms of Use (such as the one described above). But at the same time, it has to be a responsible group that can distinguish projects that tread a grey line and may or may not be marked as "not for everyone" (that is, projects that are still okay in the context of US media but are not emphasized by the Scratch Team). The question would be in finding these individuals who are responsible enough in carrying this task out.

Calm down Keani, filo5 was just concerned because "Keani" was interpreted as a real name and, along with the mentioning of age and gender, the post was misinterpreted as possibly displaying too much personal information (moderators and Scratch Team members usually edit out personal information that may threaten the security of other Scratchers).

As for your concern about projects containing improper content: aside from flagging, you can always try contacting the Scratch Team directly by using the 'Contact Us' link (found at the bottom of every Scratch web page). smile

I agree with you, Keani. I've had to flag several, several projects containing inappropriate material. If such a safety group was formed, I would be glad to join.

You can't trust a registration date in the Scratch Forums - it's the day you first visited the forums.

You can check user numbers to approximate how old they are. Ace-of-Spades's user number is 424626, so I'd approximate the time he joined to be sometime around the beginning of 2010.

How exactly would your suggestion work? If they were supposed to moderate the Scratch website looking for innapropiate projects, wouldn't that be a bit hard on them? There are very many projects that get shared each day, so it would be practically impossible to check them all.
