Re: Important Question.

Cool ideas! I'm not sure about the rules of the contest, but maybe you could make it an animated image. I'm imagining the way pictures look in Harry Potter's world. They wouldn't have to be fully interactive - just moving even a little bit back and forth could be really cool.
I vote for 3.

I don't know about you guys, but if I was entering, I'd focus a little bit more on what I want the picture to feel like, rather than focusing on a character.
(Example: For Christmas, I gave my dad a watercolor painting of guy standing on a city rooftop with arms extended as the wind ruffled his clothes. I had wanted to focus on the feeling of freedom. My dad recognized it immediately.)

i don't get it. how does that represent freedom? is the guy about to jump to feel the freedom and warm embrace of suicide?

I love this forum.
I was sort of going for a real experience where you feel like you're on top of the world, free of all of its worry even if just for a moment.
It's a wonderful feeling especially if you're in a high place with warm sunshine and a soft breeze. It's just such a perfect feeling.

Re: Important Question.

I'd be more scared and wrapping myself around anything pinned to the ground in a sloth / koala motion if I was up on top of a building. But that's just me.

Heh, isn't it odd the best advice always comes late?

Anyways, I chose the wolf with the fireflies. It looks pretty good, although the fur looked too long and downcurving. Maybe I'll do the rat later, I really like that idea too.
