My idea for the game is platformer view, and you have a cannon made out of waffles that shoots waffles into the city.

Stickmen are your equivalent to coins (your goal is to collect them, and they give you resources for ammunition)

I want to do the sprites, I'm doing the stickmen, so I should do all (or at least most of) the art!!!

A base is like a simplified version to improve and make the game.
