I could write a great speech, but I will just try to summarize why I think top downloaded should come back...

- It was a great way for nicely scripted projects to get recognition by getting downloaded.
-It usually contained great projects that were very interesting!
-Top downloaded helped me a lot, when i was still a Scratch rookie, I always downloaded projects from top downloaded to see how they worked.
-Many unrecognized Scratchers make top downloaded...
-It is generally just a nice addition to Scratch, and it is a good thing for the community.

Some negative things....

-Projects that people are remixing (Which requires downloading) may also make top Downloaded.
-People might download there own projects...

I want it back! The first time I got front paged was on Top Downloaded, and it doesn't mean anything now... Top Downloaded doesn't exist anymore. sad

And it makes sense... why not have it back?

Well, if it isn't back on the front page, there should be an easy way to find it. I can't seem to figure out where it is. I don't really remember top downloaded that much, but I think it would be fine to have it back.

Of course, the name would have to be changed to "What the Community is Downloading" tongue

They removed it because some projects had scripts that made them have to be downloaded so lots of people would download them.

Yeah, good idea but this also brings back a few things:
-projects with an awesome screenshot but actually are useless
-2000 script projects that don't do anything, but people download to see the scripts

Good idea! It kind of expresses: Who's project is the most intuitive which causes people to download it? You should title it: "What the Community is Downloading"

Why do you say no? And it would be great if the Scratch team looked here, because then they could explain things concerning top downloaded. Its not like they will be angry, it is just a suggestion, hence the forum category name called 'suggestion'

Although its nice, many people say a project is so laggy that they make a project purposely unable to play online, and they tell everybody to download. This is the main problem.

Although still it would be nice to be added to the front page.

I'm kinda on the fence about this one. I'm not sure if I should say yes or no sad

I agree. I haven't been on for a while and they took away top downloaded. I think it should be back. If project is laggy online it probably means it's complicated, and so it's worth viewing offline.

Ooh, this is getting big...

The main reason I want it back is because the projects that reach Top Downloaded are ones that are complex, quality, resourceful, and overall great.

Anyway, what's the argument against this?

Here's why people think that Top Downloaded shouldn't be brought back:

•People can draw a great project picture, and add tons of dummy scripts. People get fooled...

That's all.

Don't all of the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

No... Top Downloaded would be stricter than Top Remixed, since people have to download to remix. They have to make up for that... so Top Downloaded becomes stricter.

You're forgetting about something though.

Some people are just selfish and think they have the fastest computer to play scratch games online, and they think that when it doesn't work online, it's right to make it impossible to play online, and tell everybody that you have to download it. I hate it because it probably will work online.
