ok just beat new super mario bros. wii today, the last world can only be described with one word: stressful. luckily I had two friends to help me and the last level took tons of work, but we finally beat it
now the heads up is that once you complete world 8 there's a world 9, you need to collect ALL of the star coins from one world to unlock one of the corresponding levels in it
oh and the final boss is bowser, then the final, final boss is a gigantic bowser about quadruple the normal size and shoots fireballs as you try to run away on floating platforms above a lava pit, so yes it is very, very tough
edit:
I unlocked the first level in world 9, it's nothing special, just another level, but it's giving me something else to do, I'll update on each level as I unlock them

NSMB DS is easy, and NSMB Wii is a step up from easy. i'm on world five, but that's because I have barely played. I have never gotten a game over, and i have 99 lives. when you reach 99, mario takes his hat off until you die.

I really needed to know that...
Sorry, but I don't really like spoilers. I like to be suprised.

I just got the game, I'm on World 3 right before the second castle, it's a bit challenging but I'm good at Mario games so I'll make it through
I think the helicopter suit makes some of the harder levels really easy, so as a hint, if you have a spare one of those, use it on a tricky level!

Interesting, because in New Super Mario Bros. DS, there there was of course the mega mushroom, but it was only helpful in the earlier levels. I'm wondering if thats the story for the new power ups...

Well, they aren't much help on castle levels, but usually they help most on levels with big jumps or suspended platforms. They won't help on enemy-ridden levels though.
I suggest the Ice Flower for enemy-ridden levels, because you can freeze one enemy, throw it, and kill 5 others. At least, that's what I do.

I'm Awsome At Mario Games. I Just Finished The Kamek Castle Level On World 8, And The Levels After That Are... What You Said Before... Stressful. Anyway, This Gave Me A Good Ol' Heads Up On What's Next On It, So That's Good To Know.

I fail at beating video games, although I love them.
