I really hate the minifig scratch design studio. I don't know why I would want to make a project about lego people whose heads you can take off and swap around with others'. They're getting too much top viewed attention for just projects that were created very fast just to get on the design studio first so they can get chosen for the front page and get them attention (bah, attention seekers
). I'm really not bothered about this scratch disign studio and will not submit a project.
What about you?

I usually make stuff for design studio, but often times I already had a project that fit the category.
I'm glad it changed though, it had been lists for a long time!!!
I didn't even know what a minifig was until SDS changed...
I like design studio though. Personal opinion.

I love the topic! Make a project with these costumes, and make an animation, game, or whatever!
To me the only thing that DOES annoy me is that it is taking up a lot of space on the front page, including top viewed. But seriously I like the contest.

If i can remember one of the devs liked minifigs so they made that

I wish scratch design studio was more creative. I'm sure it was much better before the "lists" design studio. And what do you mean, "contest"? I'm pretty sure it isn't a contest, whereas some see it as a contest to get more publicity.

I'm making an interactive minifig project, I don't really see anything wrong about it. As long as we're having fun, it's fine.

Comparing myself to most of the kids at my school who think geography is about shapes, yeah I'm a bit more smart lolz. (over-exaggerating)
But seriously, this scratch design studio is very creative.
And yayz I got top viewed!

It could be a bit more creative than using the power of Lego Product Placement to make projects with pre-rendered Lego men. Things like the "shadows" design studio got me really interested - because it actuly encouraged people to think.
Also, getting top viewed with a minifig project doesn't prove anything - because the only things ON top viewed are minifig projects.

I agree, RHY. My internet has been down for about a week, and I see the front page has been infected with simple Lego stuff. I mean, really, this has to be one of the worst front page infections I have ever seen. *veiws RHY's project so we can beat the minifig menace*

Although the shadow scratch design studio might have gotten you mainly thinking, because I can see you aim for advanced stuff, others are more creative and the lego scratch design studio allows people to use there imagination too. I can see you don't like this contest, because there is nothing really advanced you can make based on it, and its a bit simplistic. Scratch isn't always about breakthroughs....

And Lego minifigs make boring games, especially when there's no sprites of them topdown, with guns or blowing each others heads off. (mwahahaha...)

I think the problem is that you're too hardcore

I like design studio though. Personal opinion.
I just finished making SLIME maze for lists the day after they changed it to minifigs. Now I just remixed SLIME maze to make it a minifig instead of a slime ^_^"
I REALLY hate this subject. Seriously? I'd prefer 1 sprite 1 script ^_^... Sure, they're giving free graphics for newbies who JUST started (as in a few minutes)... But what about the rest of scratch? At least make it something like "Make a project to do with lego", not "use these graphics to make a project".

Creepy... What's next, you run two adoptable sites with a shared forum and you have a friend 1 grade lower math than you?

Well not the current subject, but the scratch design studio in general.
I mean, the subject is alright. I'm not really sure how I feel about it.

Hey, if you've got great ideas for what should be on Scratch Design Studio, I'm sure everybody would like to hear them!
As for why the mini-figs were chosen, I don't really know. Sometimes it's fun to see what you can do with a very restricted set of sprites. Do you remember Orange square, Purple Circle (or something like that)? You got just two sprites and had to try to make something interesting with them. I saw some incredibly creative projects come out of that. Maybe you just need to think outside the box....who says you have to use the mini-figs the way they were intended? Maybe they would make good projectiles?

Agreed, RHY. My little brother loves it, though.
Although, he is very into lego - his desk is covered in minifigs (and his floor, and his bookcase). He even has a dressing gown with minfigs and lego bricks on it >.> So, in my opinion, this gallery is aimed at ten year old boys, who talk far more than they think and hoard little plastic people. That narrows it down to my little brother, and two of his friends. (On an unrelated note, you can swap their arms, legs and hands around, too. To my little brother's suprise, half of his minifigs have backwards legs and arms. (I wonder who did that?
) )
For the next Scratch Design studio, I would suggest that it could be based around a general place, such as "At the Zoo" or "At the Beach". Just, please, don't force-feed all of the answers to us by giving us more pre-made sprites - as a Scratch user, I find this boring. As an aspiring artist, I find it insulting. As RHY did, I thoroughly enjoyed "Shadows" because many different projects (games, animations, simulations, art, etc) , each with it's own personality came to show each creator's talents.

It seems a lot like product placement to me. Makes me think whether lego company is giving funding to the scratch team.

I don't think the Scratch Team is sneaky like that. This was the second pack of Lego minifigures that were donated, the first were donated in 2007, the starting of Scratch. Who knows what it is?
