I really need help with note sheets

I don't have any musical talents and I've never understood how you read note sheets.
But now I've found a note sheet, which's notes I need to 'translate' to Scratch notes to be played in a project.

Could anyone please help me?

I will post the note sheet here if someone's interested.

I can do it for you. I've done that before (except that I didn't have sheet music) :-D

I will upload it in a project when I finish it, ok? (that is, if you want me to do it xD)

Re: I really need help with note sheets

Ok, the very lowest bar is "e," ok?  The space below it is "d".  Below that is "c"  (I am speaking in Treble clef, I won't bother with Bass clef).  Go back to "e" and just keep counting spaces up, each time going one letter higher in the alphabet.  Once you get to "g"  the next one will be "a" watch out for that.  That was a bit of a rough lesson, and you probably knew all that and was asking for something else....so... yeah.

Re: I really need help with note sheets

Oh wait, I can translate this:  (The letter is the note, the number is how long you hold it)  (Also, a  -  means rest)

Top Bar:
A2 G1 E1/2 F1/2 G1 E1/2 F1/2 G1 E1/2 F1/2 D1 A1 G1 E1/2 F1/2 G1/2 G1/2 E1/2 F1/2 G1/2 G1/2 F1/2 E1/2 D1 A1

Bottom bar
-2 lowA1 EGhighA1 lowA1 EGhighA1 lowA1 EGhighA1 DFhighA1 -1 lowA1 EGhighA1 lowA1 EGhighA1 lowA1 EGhighA1 DFhighA1 -1

That was just the top bar, I won't bother translating the rest, as this is complicated as it is.

I'm sorry, was that too complicated?  It's kind of hard to write music in words, its a lot easier if you know sheet music.  Which is the problem  tongue

I'm going to make an animation project (my first) with two songs, Kalinka and Korobeiniki, and some stick figures dancing.

But for Korobeiniki I will use an MP3 with Dimitri Hvorostovsky singing.

You seem to be very good with note sheets and musical things, but sorry, MRN:s suggestion looked a little more helpful for me, who hasn't really got any musical experience.

But thanks anyways, I'll keep in mind that you are good with music!

Re: I really need help with note sheets

I was looking at a music sheet and I sort of guest the notes and matched it up with the letters. I got quite close to the real thing but I just guest the note length by how the note looked.

You can also make some good music by throwing random notes together. I did this with this project (link to project) and the music is quite interesting.

Yay! Here it is: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/MyRedNeptune/816278

Btw, the melody was slightly different from what was on the sheet, so I just transcribed from the example. o.o

I was reading an article about a Swedish tenor called Nicolai Gedda, since his father was half-Russian he sang many Russian songs, I read that he had sung Korobeiniki, so I searched for it on YouTube, and I immediately started to like it  smile
Then I searched for more Russian folk songs and I found Kalinka performed by the Red Russian Army Choir and I liked it too.

That's how I was inspired to make this project  smile

For future projects, this might help you with transferring the sheet music to the piano on Scratch.

Thanks for posting that! It will be useful for the lower and higher octaves that aren't on the Scratch piano.

Hmm. In my public school, theres a music class that we have like once a week in earlier grades. We just learn all of the basics. And you have to learn how to play the recorder.
