I would have about  450,000,000.

You could start by counting up the comments for each of your projects.  Then add in the number of friends you have and the number of galleries each project is in.  Each of those events generates messages.

Including deleted projects I guess I'm around the 5000 mark.

But, just because somebody added you as a friend, doesn't mean that you added him. And the same for the other way around.

Eh.... a LOT. O.o I got 2800 in just several weeks, while I was unactive. I get a new message about every 15 mins in the active time and once every 40 mins in the unactive time. ^^

P.S. I've got about a thousand people on my friends list. O.o

I have 2422 comments on my projects, together with all comment replies on other projects and all "... has been added to the gallery" I think it would make about 3500

3600 ish before message wip i had like 3100, as i saved my messages since 1st day, most were freids requests

I never delete my messages in case threads like these come up...

About 1200 maybe? Most of them were wiped out in early 2009 by that update (wasn't there an update that erased all your messages?)

This might sound odd... but that little blue notification bar does annoy me after a while of starin' at it, so I like to delete my messages as soon as I'm done with it.

About 1845.
I've been on for about 1 year. I get about 5 messages each time. 5x365
Subtract 40, for the 50 days I got 1-3
Add 88, for those days when I was featured.
There for, about that many.
