If you're an internet guy get a netbook with linux and run a build of Google Chrome OS on it 
However, it CANT run Scratch on it, so get a Mac, like the new Macbook. I would suggest something other than Dell because the quality isn't that good.

I meant GOOGLE CHROME OS! Not that stupid Ubuntu! It's horrible! I prefer Fedora or something more lightweight. Honestly, I used it for a while, and I didn't like it. Google Chrome OS is based on the web.

Get a mac, you can still run your windows apps with parallels, crossover, bootcamp, wine(free), or any other windows emulating software!
ps. Jeez I didn't think Ubuntu is all that bad...

I have windows seven on a separate partition on my macbook pro! I just have to hold down alt when it's starting and it's magically a pc!

Windows 7 has the productivity of XP and the looks of vista. It is also not a fail like Vista.
Macs will only run 5% of the stuff you have. And they can cost up to 10 times as much as pc's.
Windows 7: Fast, cheap, and lots of support.
Mac: Fast, super expensive, little support.

Windows *is* better - but personally I don't like any OS out today. All linuxes are Mac and PC ripoffs.

What I meant when I was posting "most programs won't work [on linux]"
Programs that run on .NET platform, or are so pathetically windows-dependent (Sony Vegas, Visual Studio, certain games, and I'm pretty sure there is no Flash nor Photoshop for Linux)
Anyway, I'd chose either Win/Lin installation or Mac/Win installation (but make sure Windows has the update set to "ask me before I download or install" - Vista can restart out of nowhere when set to full auto, and install only .NET and security updates, because others just take up space. Except Service Packs. Some of them are pretty good, though.) - my recommendation.
Converting my Scratch projects to Python!

Macs FTW. They are just better in everyway, execpt they are more expensive and don't include a free art program(Paint).

My Mac works pretty well. And the screen is bigger, WAYYY better graphics, nicer looking, not a cheapo like some Windows, and has this nice program scroll bar on the bottom of the screen. I see my friends have Windows, I don't envy them at all. In my opionion, they are just cheaper (in the positive and negitave ways) versions of the Mac.

Better graphics? I think they're pretty equal.
One thing that I don't like though, is that at the top, there is the thing that has File, Edit, About, etc., and it's not attached to the actual program. Also the scroll bar for applications. I mean why do you want to put all of them there? I'd rather have it opened up conviniently, but not taking up space on the screen when not in use.

Better graphics? If you saw The Sims 3 on a mac compared to it on a PC with the same graphics card you would cry.

If you are willing to spend a lot of money, mac. If you are looking for something cheap, windows.
I honestly prefer mac, it's extremely user friendly, and windows 7 isn't that great. Also, you don't get as many viruses. The downside is that a lot of applications are .exe files, which macs can't read.

What's the problem with Windows 7? In my opinion its very self explanatory, and very friendly. I was recently trying out the speech recognition, and translating text into Microsoft Anna (not Sam)'s voice.

a.) Ubuntu = good,
b.) Why would any Scratcher want Google Chrome OS? Obviously they can't have Scratch.
