It depends on how much money you are willing to spend.

Windows is the best! It has lots of virus protection, and my laptop, and perhaps yours too, comes with 30 days of free Norton (virus protection software). Although instead, my dad used his bank account and got 1 free year of McAfee, for up to 3 users.

If you want to be an apple fanboy and buy every kind of product that apple has to be cool (or if you want to do multimedia) get a Mac
If you want 90% of your programs to run then get Windows (its cheaper too).
If you really care about defending against virus and other e-junk then load Linux on your system which is more secure than macs and windows.

Windows 7 is a lot better. The odds are that you have Windows Vista, which is very glitchy.

Lies. I have Windows 7, which IS less glitchy but is still as annoying.

I have Windows 7, and it's great. It doesn't annoy me at all. What's the problem with it?

The answer would be both linux and windows. Because Linux is more reliable and less glitchy, but most programs won't work. If you have a drive big enough but low on memory, try installing them both and selecting system you want to run on booting. If you have big mem and dual core proc, try running Windows on virtual machine inside Linux (or linux via VM on windows). I also recommend you to use Windows 7 or XP - BEWARE OF VISTA IT'S HIDEOUS. And if you prefer speed, turn Aero off.

If you want a computer for entertainment. I would go mac. If you want a universal computer, go with Windows. Also, if you want a gaming computer. I would go windows as well.

I have a mac and all of my programs run. Also macs have lots of games. Basically macs and windows have the same software and stuff, like they are generally made the exact same ways with he same stuff. But macs are still way better and faster

BSOD = Blue Screen of Death.

WRONG. Windows crashes every few seconds for me.

Italics = Right.
Underline = Wrong.
@08jackt: How about you just don't spend any money and install Ubuntu on hardware that you already have? Trust me, that's the good choice. Even if you want to play games and such, Ubuntu has a lot of good games available for download.

What blue screen of death? Actually use your computer smart, and don't just pile up on programs.
Windows crashes every few seconds? Give me a break...
I honestly agree with filo5. Because generally Linux is less popular so the people who create programs only make them for windows or mac, or both. Not linux.

Get a Mac with Boot Camp, then install Windows. You can now switch between Mac and Windows on the same machine, anytime you want! (I have it. It's great.)

Blue Screens of Death. And no, I don't pile up programs on my computer.

*cough* Slight exaggeration. *cough*

WRONG. There are many, many useful and addicting applications available for all sorts of distros of Linux. Every kind of application, too. Tools... games... Internet stuff... graphics stuff.... lots. And there is Scratch available for Linux.
And besides, even not many did create Linux applications, we could always WINE....

This, my friend, is a post of Ignorance!
The only reason to, "Macs dont get vireses lol" is that 90% of computers owned are
running windows, so there is no reason to create a virus for a Mac.
