Scratch on Mac seems rather bulky and slow. It is a whole lot faster than 1.3 but still slow. Scratch needs to be rewritten in native language of Mac (Objective-C) for the 21st century. Yes, I know that it would be difficult to rewrite it, but I feel it is necessary. By rewriting it in Mac's native language, it would be extremely fast and be extremely powerful. Scratch's speed is really bothersome and it is hard to make big projects with it. Everyone can't expect just small projects to be made in Scratch. More and more people are making bigger projects and need extra speed and power. If you guys can't rewrite it, then optimize it somehow, by cutting out excess code and useless junk that isn't needed. Every bit counts.

True! Being a Mac Lover, I too agree that it's very, very slow.

It will not be rewritten in Obj-C, Applescript, Cocoa, or XCode, or anything. The Scratch Team has gone to far to start over again.
It IS possible though to speed up Scratch.

Xcode is not a language. It is a development to on the Mac to make Mac and iPhone apps.

Thats just goes to show what you get from buying a Mac!
Just kidding... iKnow how slow Scratch can be, even on Windows.

lol illusionist
But i feel your pain, one time I made a chunky script, and lost half of the project. They should make it faster or smaller

Oh, I forgot what the quote was from the book "Hackers" oh well, it had something to do with cutting code to make it smaller. They need to do that, or, yes, rewrite it in a language that is supported by all computers, but is nice and fast, like C/C++/C# or any of those types of languages.

Lol.
Maybe someone else can rewrite it... Also in the Spanish forum I saw andresmh mentioning that the Scratch Team is considering rewritting Scratch in a more versatile, and a bit more web-oriented language, like ActionScript. But I think it'll take some years to rewrite it
