Yes, I'm afraid you're right.
'07ers: Quiet, advanced programmers that are full of intelligence.
Especially because I'm not quiet, advanced, or intelligent. >.<

I know you are criticizing my 'Species' again...
But it was an experiment. I just wanted to have some fun. I said:
"The '10ers. Who knows what they look like or how they behave.
"
Notice the smiley at the end. It means its a joke.
Then [a user] started a thread that takes much of the heat. I'm actually really amazed by how [the user] could take the heat. I may be responsible for the big splash, but I didn't want to cause it.

He wasn't criticizing anyone... it was just making a point.
As for the 10ers, let's just see how they turn out. We should welcome them all the same, I suppose...

It'd be too easy to get high up with alphabetical order... we'd get usernames like "aaaaaa", "abc", and "aaaaaaattack".08jackt wrote:

people. seriously. its a registery date.
they weren't teasing black people, they weren't teasing asians.
they were teasing a registery date.
who honestly cares. lighten up people. It's still causing seperation and hate. It's practically the same.
Anyway, how would you like it if you were an '09er and people teased you?
HOSTELY? i wouldn't care less. i mean, come on, its a frikin' Registery date! dude, seriously! what normal person would actually be insutled by that.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean... but if you're talking about being insulted by a date, that's not it. It's the users who send the insults because of it.

I'm not criticizing you... and if you haven't noticed, there's a slight difference. The thing is that a lot of people are saying that stuff, or hinting at it, and other stuff.
I wasn't criticizing you. I'm sorry about the confusion.
Oh, there's a smiley. It's a joke. Oops!
Good job on censoring the user.

Well, maybe you wouldn't care, but what's your opinion to the rest of the Scratch Community? Most people wouldn't like being teased about being an '09er.

i blame the 08ers for my programming faults
not the 09ers, they're just an anthro cult

Honestly, I wouldn't be blaming anyone. It had to partly be the '07ers, anyway, if anything. Why would those things be caused just be by people in one year, as well?
Why blame '08ers for your own programming faults anyway?

Have you heard about the Rule of 150?
The following is not related to it in any way, but...
When I joined Scratch, there was no anime or arty things on the front page. It took me about a year to get good at it - the single project that got me good at programming is called Star watching by mazemaker. I was trying to recreate it using the colour/ghost effect instead of beautiful rotating images. I was about to make a complicated script with hundreds of different functions before my Dad came up to the screen, and said:
"[my name], why don't you just put the mouse x into the set colour effect to block?"
All of a sudden, I realized that Scratch wasn't as limited as I thought! The number blocks became less formidable, and an entire world of glorious creativity opened up before my eyes. I started making ever more complicated things, and whenever I ran into a dead end I would learn how to get around it, until I was far better than I used to be. Of course, getting my tablet sort of dulled that due to the possibilities of art, but fortunately I didn't start with the tablet so I already knew how to program. But the thing that ultimately sparked this was a single interesting project. That's it. One project. But now, we can see why '09 has been such a "bad" year - the domino effect. One person stops making good projects. Other scratchers with potential never get to see them, and in turn they don't make projects as complex and quality as they could have. As more people follow this route, more people don't get to see quality projects until Scratch degrades into fluff that isn't even drawn well. It's like the Shoe Event Horizon of Frogstar B (read the Restaurant at the End of the Universe). That's why 2007 spawned such good users - because of their surroundings. It's completely unfair to blame '09ers for being "bad people" who don't withhold Scratch's once-mighty standards - in truth, it only takes one person to spark major changes. (And a certain cult is a far larger disturbance than a single person.) But it can work in reverse! As long as we keep encouraging others to program well and do the same ourselves, we can make Scratch a better place. It's actually, and always has been, about the little things! Every project you make can actually improve Scratch for the better! So please do! Go program like there's no tomorrow! We CAN and WILL improve this website permanently!!
You know, that was all improv. I'm very good at getting worked up.

That's a great story, big-bang. I agree with you that there should be more projects - so how about you make a thread with lots of links to great projects for inspiration?

most people wouldn't like being teased by some one they dont know, has never seen, has never spoken face to face with, about what date they registered to a kids site...well thats normal.

Smart. You did a REALLY good job considering you only talked about the year. Very smart. Not about the people, the year.

I agree w/ you.
More users: more trends. More trends: higher chance of bad trends. Bad trends: chaos.

The best idea would have been to never insult the '09ers in the first place. That's what I tried to do throughout this whole thing. I defended them a little when some fool on a rant came around about '09ers being totally stupid, but otherwise I stayed out of the discussion.

No. That's what I was saying the best idea to do was. The tense was more towards people who did insult the '09ers.

What? What do 08ers or anyone else have to do with your bad programing skills? Don't blame others if you have faults in your programing, beacuse obviously its not their fault.

If I mentioned certain users, that's sort of like blaming people. Why should I contradict what I'm speaking against?
Nice signature, by the way.

keep going like this and this is what the timeline from some people who joined in 07
07 perfect 08 suppose thier ok 09 really bad 10 even worse 11 terrible 12------no community
people are saying that all 09ers are the blame. do we really want to make scratch a site where people looses interest? I think if the community keeps going like this then there will be no scratch.

It won't disintegrate as long as some faithful Scratchers stay. And anyway, it won't be happening.
