Thank you so much! That's exactly what I meant!
Now I want to stay in background2 for about 2-3 seconds and then GRADUALLY change the interface with mosaic before moving on to background 3. How do I do that pls?
Also, I want my 'third page' or background to contain a moving car but when I add the mini cooper car sprite to my blank background it will stay there and will appear on my 2 previous pages or backgrounds too. I only want it on my third page or background. Could you pls tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thank you
Klaus

Ok, im not sure if you can mosaic the backround, but if you could (i cant check because my scratch computer is in use) Ok. So make a variable called "mosaic" (if you've seen my scratch cat adventures you would know what im doing) and do this script:
<when green flag clicked>
<set{ mosiac }to( 0
Now, do this:
Continued off off the other script......
<wait(2 or 3 )secs>
<broadcast[ car
<repeat until><( <{ mosaci }> <=>20 )>
<change{ mosiac }by( 1
<change[ mosaic ]effect by(1
<end>
And for your car,
<when I receive[ car
<show>
<when green flag clicked>
<hide>

and when i said "continuing ffrom the other script i mean the one i gave you where it said change whirl by something and yeah.

Actually, what I meant by 'mosaic' was the 'mosaic effect'. You know, like the color, fisheye, whirl, pixel, and so on. Everything else seems to be OK.
Thank you
Klaus

i know. thats exacly what I ment to!the variables just there so you dont have to do: repeat 20

OK, a few things.
1. Can I get the mosaic effect going only three times as opposed to for ever?
2. How do I type what you want me to type ('mosaic 20') inside that orange shape on the 'repeat until' block?
3. I can't find the 'hide' and 'show' keys. Are they supposed to be under 'Motion'? When I click the motion block I get the following response:
"Stage selected. No motion blocks".

the car is a sprite right? the car "hide" is under "looks"

I don't have 'hide' block under looks!

yes you do. it has to be a SPRITE! NOT A STAGE!

OK thanks, I just found it.

1 yes. My project: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Heybrian/106476
It shows you how to do it. 2 My project: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Heybrian/106476
Shows you how to do it. (just click one link there both the same project.)

I'm sorry Heyrbian but I'm very confused. Too much stuff to process. Too many things don't make sense. On the verge of throwing in the towel and going for way easier Powerpoint.

ok a variable can be anything you want it to be. its just a placeholder. What is complicated?

I'm an ESL teacher and have never done any programming @ all. Sorry but having so many blocks and so many new names is so confusing. I also get very frustrated 'cause I really want 2 learn how 2 use Scratch cause it totally rocks and I spend so much time trying 2 figure out how 2 use it but so far I c no results. Check out my project "Do you know how to get to uni?" and u'll see what I mean. It totally sucks man. It just sucks big time. It's not what I want @ all, it's incomplete, and I'm not even halfway through the designing stage. But b4 I throw in the towel, would it be OK if send u an email telling u in plain and simple English what exactly it is that I want 2 design? It's such as simple ESL activity man.

kpmichelsen, you might want to start a new thread on the forum "All about Scratch" asking for a programmer to help you with a project. There are several kids on the forums who have been looking for projects to work on, so if you have an idea, there will probably be a few who want to help you realize it.

Thanks Kevin. I just did that.

Sure. You'll have to give me your email. And what do you mean by design?
You can design anything you want. Rephrase that and i can probably get it.

Hi stevejohnson179 and Heybrian,
When you save a project in Scratch it also saves the state of each object (sprite, background), i.e. if you hide a sprite in the development environment by double clicking on the 'hide' block, and save your project afterwards, that sprite will be hidden the next time you open this project.
Heybrian's suggestion to "initialize" or "reset" the state of each object on project launch ("when the green flag is clicked") will let the sprites flash up for a short moment, before they become hidden. However, Heybrian is absolutely right in his advice, that it is good programming practice to initialize your project's desired state on launch. That way users can always reset your project to its initial state by clicking the green flag.

My students and I have a wiki with several Scratch files embedded in it. However, we need to show the site without having Internet access and would like to link the Scratch files and have them run automatically when clicking on the link. Presently the link opens up the file in Scratch, and you see the entire program. Is there a way to have it autorun?

Hi mchiarel,
You might want to use a separete thread for your question. In short: you can download the Java player (Scratch.jar) and embed any Scratch projects in your offline-webpages in pretty much the same way this website does. You'll find some hints how to accomplish that in this forum thread:
http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=763#p763
Was this what you were looking for?

i guess he answered your question, but if not, rephrase that and i'll get back to you.
