I'll leave on December 21, 2012.
No, just kidding.
I'll stay on for as long as I can, but I can't guarantee anything - in years there might be something even better. I want to go on and maybe learn some other programming languages (real ones; and it's good to know several). But I'll try and stay on Scratch! If I end up going off, I'll at least try and use the forums daily; but leaving is a gradual thing.
But if I had to say something now, I'd say this: I'll be on Scratch for a long time!

I am going to try to stay on for a long time, my goal is to make an awesome game that has a lot of good feedback and top loved and top viewed or featured. Something big. And that will probably take like a year so I will probably be on for a long time. But I may take small breaks. I love Scratch!

i made $400 off of flash things.
An app for the iTouch/iPhone? I hope that I can start work with those, as it is pretty easy to make some money off programming those things. Unfortunatly, it costs 100 dollars to start up and I don't have the time and I don't have an iTouch...Maybe during the summer/christmas break I could get one and program. Most people don't realize that its just other consumers who make those games.

I'll stay til I die. NO ONE is gonna hack my account and make me quit. They'd have to do it over MY DEAD BODY >:(

Looking at all of these comments about never leaving,I can tell people are passionate about scratch, but I thibk most scratchers will move on to bigger and better languages. To put this into perspective, imagine an 80 year old man dragging colorful blocks together across a screen.I plan on staying as long as possible, but eventually school will catch up with me in a few years.I also plan on learning either java or flash, but they're both ambitious for someone my age.

from the article from comm. of the ACM (cacm) (it is linked to on the home page):
Cacm article wrote:
We plan to keep our primary focus on lowering the floor and widening the walls, not raising the ceiling. For some Scratchers, especially those who want to pursue a career in programming or computer science, it is important to move on to other languages.
So, I think that I will have to move on to another language. One of the things that is hard though is finding the right language. I have not had much success in finding a language which is better than scratch for most things, except for when it comes to Speed, matrix operations, mathematical features, and things such as flooding, subs, and functions, recursion, etc. which I don't use all of the time. So far, I haven't really found a FREE program that is like scratch other than the BYOB 2.0 and such. And I want to be able to share them.
However, when I do move on, I will most likely still use Scratch. I love Scratch. It is possible that I might even go to MIT and join the Scratch Team (maybe...). What I love about Scratch (one of the things at least) is how quickly and easily you can create a program from... well, scratch (or nothing)! While it might take several lines of code to create a program to have a ball [blocks] <move( 5 )steps> [/blocks] in some other language, where you might need to make a sub or something that looks sort of like this:
SUB move (steps) steps ; use (xposition, yposition, direction) !see "use (sub)"
OPTION ANGLE DEGREES !use degrees instead of radians
Let xposition=xposition+steps*sin(direction)
Let yposition=yposition+steps*cos(direction)
END SUB
! "use (sub)": when used after a sub "SUB sub(var1)name ; use (var2,var3)",
! the variables are taken from the main program without being mentioned when sub
! is calledand then having to say "CALL move (5) steps" whenever it is used, and having to TYPE it all, takes up a lot of time spent on tedious syntax, instead of easily manipulating actual variables and such. And Debugging is so frustrating. So, whenever possible, for quick projects, I would like to use Scratch.
But, I inevitably must move on one day.

I'm never going to quit making projects - But I'm going to learn a more advanced language and start a company. Hopefully. I need to get something like Java or C++.
I guess I'll have to eat my words - I've learned Python and might soon be leaving Scratch.
I haven't made a project in over two weeks, as some of you have noticed.

I take 2-7 month gaps between projects.
I don't know when I'll quit, whenever I get bored of it I guess. I've decided to learn C++, but I'm still at the very basics and not done with scratch yet.
