Stage size

Hello !
I am new to scratch and very excited.
I would like to ask though if there is a way to increase the stage size.

Thank you.

Re: Stage size

You can't but you can have a virtual stage that's bigger than the stage. This lets you make games that look like they go beyond the stag. This is also know as scrolling. If you would like to see more about this there are some projects out there that show you what to do. If you would like to see a scroller in action you can click here. Hope this helps and keep on scratch-ing.

Also try shift clicking on some of the button's around scratch as there is extra stuff you can do to your projects.

Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

Re: Stage size

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately this trick does't help me.
I need to have the biggest surface that I can have for pedagogical reasons.
Since I can not increase the stage size can I derive my project on a bigger size ?

Thank you very much I appreciate.

Re: Stage size

You can't increase the Stage size, the only idea I have would be using smaller sprites, then go to presentation mode. But then the sprites would look pixely.

Re: Stage size

Thanks.

Can I use the final project in presentation mode ?
How big the presentation mode is ?
Is there a way to avoid pixeling ?
Is there another open source software with wich I can accomplish
an interactive scenario in a bigger screen ?

Thank you !

Re: Stage size

You can change the size of the presentation mode by changing the resolution of your screen but that can make it look pixely if your screen is very large.

To try and avoid this kind of pixeling you may want to shrink your sprites down as presentation mode will bring it back to normal size.

Re: Stage size

It is possible to increase the stage size. However, it leads to incompatibilities between the 3 GUI's (the 1.1&1.2, 1.3, and 1.4.)
(yes, 1.1&1.2 vs 1.3 are very different - functionally, but not aesthetically.)
Anyhow, I can upload a VERY beta version of streak with a larger stage, if you want... but there is an upper limit. How big do you need it? I can only really add about a hundred pixels either way. Also, as I was saying about the GUI, you'll only be able to edit it in one version of scratch.
Finally, it will be partly compatible with scratch, but it will lead to many messed up coordinates.
Bottom line:
It's possible, but I HIGHLY discourage it for newcomers.
